Hope everyone's pre-holidays and pre-builds are going well. It's that time again. The new year is about to be the dawn of another six weeks of no sleep, tons of work, and lots of fun building our lovely mechanical best friends and preparing them to do battle and represent out team colors.
As we all begin to prep for build season we've all got our thoughts even farther ahead to competitions.

I was just wondering where everyone was going this year and if anyone knows where they're going to be competing for Chairman's? MOE 365 has changed our routine up from the last two years and we're heading up to the Finger Lakes Regional. But we're planning to return home, to the Philadelphia Regional, this year to compete for Chairman's where we are planning to submit our Chairman's Award entry.

I wish everyone the best of luck; can't wait to see everyone on the field again. Happy Holidays!

We're going to Toronto for the first time. And like Moe our Chairman's is also going home, in our case to Hartford, where we used to cheer for Buzz and now we cheer for Techno Ticks. Some of the newer teams like Rosie and Gus are looking pretty good, so we might be cheering for them or one of our sister teams (173, 177, 178, 181) next. Its a great home regional, where competition for the chairman's is tough.

PS I know I left out some of the other great teams that go to the Connecticut regional so here is a shortcut to the whole list :) https://my.usfirst.org/myarea/index.lasso?page=teamlist&menu=false&event=CT

Hey, anyone else out there? Let's resurrect this thread if we can....MOE is submitting at Philly, and we'd like to hear from everyone else where they are going. We're into the heart of the build season now, so teams probably have a pretty good idea of where they are going. We're also still going to Finger Lakes as our other regional this year, just for a change of scenery ;)

Awesome! Best of luck to all teams, by the way. May we all be successful, and may we all be both gracious and professional.

Team 116 doesn't have much of a choice, as we're only going to our home VCU regional and Championship. So, by default, all our awards are being submitted at VCU (rumor has it there will be at least 3 teams who won a Regional Chairman's last year submitting there).

Like many other teams we will be submitting at our home & only regional the Finger Lakes Regional. We hope to have a good showing again this year. I can't wait to have MOE come up & visit. It would be great if you could bring your CA stuff so we could have a chance to learn from you guys.

FRC Team 418 will be submitting to our wonderful and very special, Lone Star Regional, where we have been submitting for the past few years. We are an older team who didn't always submit for the Chairman's or the Woodie Flowers. We have grown into a team that celebrates a richer FIRST experience because we submit entries to the Chairman's Award and the Woodie Flowers Award. Funny how that works, the effort that you put forth comes back to you ten-fold. If you aren't currently submitting entries to a regional Chairman's Award or Woodie Flowers Award, think about it and do it next year - you won't ever regret it.

Team 1014 is submitting at Pittsburgh, our only regional.

I couldn't agree more.

Some of the best experiences we have had as a team have come because of stuff we started doing for the Chairman's Award and now do because they are fun and rewarding. This year we were asked to help with a fundraiser for a local nonprofit counseling center. They needed a platform to launch 10000 rubber ducks into a pond for rubber duck race. We were asked to help because the group putting on the fundraiser included some of our team sponsors who knew the kinds of things we did. It turned out to be a really fun project (except for tearing down and hauling away the platform) involving design, materials research and construction. An excellent introduction to what we do. We also got the chance to demonstrate our robot (the kids loved balls shooting into the air) and the Lego League teams. This exposure definitely helped our Lego League program grow from two to five teams this year. So we had a great experience, a lot of fun, got a chance to use engineering skills, helped build up the team of the future and got a lot of good press and community good will.

First, and definitely most importantly, I can't wait for some warm weather / sun.

Secondly, however, I'm not sure which thread you pulled that from, but it isn't right. We're submitting locally (shipping all of the chariman's stuff is a mistake, trust us). I've got a hunch says it was one of MattLi or QuentinSheets, who spend more time posting mis-information (in the (somewhat) innocent freshman (although neither are freshmen, they just act like it) sort of way). Some of their finest work can be found in a thread I've long since lost about our CAMs. I believe Matt said the robot needed "only 12 lbs of force to lift 240 lbs of robots". The next build day was a fun lesson as he struggled to move the ramp at all....

Apologies if those two have mislead anyone about anything this year, they're a little hard to keep track of sometimes.

1302 made the mistake of putting in the Chairman's Award at the NJ regional. It was awesome getting to talk to Bart Kamen and the other judges, but there are so many incredible teams at the NJ regional. We realized afterwards that NYC would have been better because that is where our mentee teams is having their first ever regional. Might have given an extra boost, but I know team 75 really deserved it. Congradulations again!:D
