WOW. That turned out nice. Did they charge you extra for it?

Looks cool. But, where is the 4 in 498? I see a 9 on the left of the cobra and an 8 on the right, but no 4. Is the "98" for something else?

The 4 is right on top of the head. It's just extra shiny.

WOAH! thats magnificent, looks like it might burn a hole in my wallet though.

I would have been the poor man and just ordered the ring and CNC milled it myself. :P

Me too but I would hate to CNC something like that I would pull my hair before it even finished

Nope, all it took was about 10 weeks of waiting instead of the usual 6. We were both extremely surprised that there wasn't an additional fee for custom logos.

Any team who has Balfour do rings for their school (and even other ring companies) should talk to them about this if they're interested. We just printed out our logo as we wanted it to appear, and gave them a copy with our 2 ring orders. It came back exactly as we had given it to them, considerably more detailed than we thought they were going to be able to pull off.

The 4 is above in the top of the biohazard symbol, we wanted the number to appear somewhere so we put the 3 numbers in the edges of the logo.

This is on the standard ring, on the cheapest metal, meaning the only thing they offer cheaper doesn't allow for things on the sides of the ring. We were forced to get a certain style of ring in order to fit how they generated the logo (I had to change from my original ring style because it wasn't big enough), but the cost was the same and it only took an extra week or so to do the change.

Unfortunately you can't order the FIRST logo custom without FIRST's permission, since it's copyrighted.

Wow, thats great! My school uses Herff Jones, and they wouldn't even consider doing it for my team, even if we paid extra. And mind you, we were talking to them about using the FIRST logo (as noted above, wouldn't fly) so they would be looking in th thousands range, not ten or twenty students.

Anyway, looks gorgeous, congrats!

I wonder if anyone has sent an email in to FIRST asking if they could use the logo on a school ring... I see people saying that it's copyrighted and you would need permission from FIRST but I don't see why FIRST would deny your request and they could even put out a thing saying that the use of the logo for school rings is permitted.

Now that is cool! For some reason our school gave us our class ring when we were sophmores and I wasn't involved in robotics at that time. So I didn't get anything special put on the ring

Many threads discuss the FIRST logo on CD. Searching for "class rings" brings up that many companies including balfour, jostens, and zolnier that have all offered the FIRST logo in the past.

http://zolnierclassrings.com/ (http://zolnierclassrings.com/) shows the FIRST logo as well as team 476's logo on their home page.

I remember reading about these threads before as well, but I think whether or not these companies offer FIRST's logo on rings varies by region, distributor, and possibly even individual high schools.

Our school did class rings as early as sophomores, but I didn't get one then since I didn't think I could get robotics on it.

My school uses Jostens, and we were able to get the FIRST logo on our ring. [Unfortunately, I was the only taker, as there are only two sophomores on 1923...] It wasn't a big deal to us about having OUR logo on the ring, because, like I said, it was just me =/.

That logo looks really good though. =] /me likes.

Bummer, on my ring I didnt get anything about robots. Jostens wanted to charge me $50 for something custom. Later I found out that they do have the FIRST logo just not in the catalog. So for free I can get that. Not sure if they talked to FIRST about copyright issues. They said I get 1 free re-make of the ring. So im gonna get that done soon.
