Working off Rich's excellent find, I relentlessly scoured the web until I came upon this variant, which seems to tie in both FIRST's clue and Dave's banana.

Kinda looks like the diamond plate 5 could be like the coin you drop into the water bottle on the fast-food counter, trying to hit a target - in this case the center of the field. No idea about the banana.

No real or imagined official GDC hints were harmed or knowingly revealed in the production of this red herring.

I guess it's a good thing it's not Dave's picture. If it was we would have another 35+ pages of speculation on it.

Speaking of red herring... I don't believe this picture at all. I don't think FIRST would go with Blue and Yellow as alliance colors. Now, if that other fish were red, I might have to reconsider.... ;)

And given that green is used by the vision system, yellow would seem to be the logical choice of a third alliance or loner.

Actually, notice there isn't any water in the picture. The fish appear to be floating. Maybe this year's robots will have to be hovercrafts!

Oh, wait. This isn't the game hint.
Oh, well. I would still like to see hovercrafts. :rolleyes:
