Hey everyone,

Iwas just wondering if the kick-off countdown on ChiefDelphi is based on actual information or is simply a guess.

Someone please let me know if you have any idea.

Thanks!

I'm not sure if it's a guess or not, but FIRST said at the team forums that the kickoff is going to be Jan 4-5. I'm just a little to lazy to count the number of days from now until then :)

Normally kick-off is the "FIRST" Saturday in January....we had a thread about this somewhere.....

right here it is.... http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=441

:)

Hope it helps....

The countdown is to January fifth, which was originally an educated guess, but has since been confirmed.

Kick-off begins with the Workshops on the Friday before the actual Kick-off..this season, it will be Friday, January 4th...all day workshops. Kick-off, revealing of the playing field, kit of parts distribution etc....Saturday, January 5th, 2002.
The first 'full' weekend in January is typically the schedule FIRST follows. Sometimes the first weekend in January falls on a holiday...so it's the first full weekend in January.......

have an awesome day!

Well I know that there is going to be a longer gap between Reagionals and Nationals. Thats is what they said at the team forumn. This and last year the Nationals were on the first week of April. It is probably between the second week of April and the last week. The third week is April Vacation and I know Disney would never premit it at that time.

And then: 6 WEEKS OF HELL

Ed didn't do anything, this year on my team.

Did you do something that helped your team?

I've been in FIRST long enough to see people who I thought did nothing to help the team (my team or others). Most of the time, I think I was wrong about that evaluation. It's very easy to think another person isn't doing work when we are very busy ourselves. Personally, I have very little time to figure out what I'm doing let alone anyone else. Therefore, please don't degrade someone for "not doing anything" as I doubt you truly know how much they did.

Thank you Matt.

Anyhow, a point of caution to other people: Don't sign up for 2 different teams. Last time, I signed up for both animation and robot building. You spend the day working with one, the other thinks you do nothing, and vice versa.

not if you dedicate your time enough. i'm involved with EVERYTHING, except mainly animation. i'm the team captain on my team and i have to spread my time to all aspects of the team, manufacturing, electrical, sponsorships, setting up fundraisers, demo's... the list goes on and on. it can be done if you allow yourself to do it.

*I know what you mean David, I'm captain on my team, it is so time consuming you have to help with doing a little (or lot as it may be) of everything. It's neat how you get to work on everything, the drawback is that you never get to pick just one thing to work on, you have to do it all!
