this thread is being started to see ideas about your arms and grabbers and whatnot, and to see if you will go for top middle or bottom row of the spider rack.

my team is leaning towards scoring in all three or a defensive bot which could score on the lowest only

well since our robot's already able to score 832 points in 1 minutes, it's obvious what we do. HAHA :p

How do you score that many that fast??:)

Easy, we use Magic. Your team wasn't given that in the kit?

My team uses a little thing called "will power" to score that many that fast. :D

well still what rows will you score on reasonably with other teams attacking your bot hypothetically defensively and you not being able to stop the other alliance from scoring atleast a few? where will you aim your tubes for. and thanks

Currently it looks like we will either score on or three or (more likely) the bottom two.

We're going for the top 2 =]

We're going for all 3, but can settle for less, if need be.

This question is related to the "how tall/heavy will your robot be" question, and the answer seems to be the same....we'll know when we get there!
Our goal is to score at all 3 levels

Seems like a team who's trying to score the tubes would want to score them wherever would give them the most points. </John Madden>
No, seriously. Where you go for is really going to depend on the match, and where the tubes currently are.

I dunno, the top 2, I guess.

we're actually going to score every tube. even the ones that aren't ours. We won't be using will power; rather we will be using the magic smoke out of our camera, victors, and other various electronics. Its pretty potent stuff.
Be careful with that magic smoke, remember a little goes a long way.

Our team is planning on building an arm that can score on all three heights and pick up the rings from the round and all three spider feet levels. Unfortunately I don’t think our team has the expertise to use magic smoke safely so our arm will need to be built with old fashion engendering and machining.:(

team 1757 is going for trilateral scoring ability!
...or maybe we'll just try to score on all three levels. in any case, we said we'd try to score in the low goals last year, and i'm pretty sure we scored one poof ball all competition with our robot (go rookies); i don't know how much i can trust us :( . all the other balls we scored were a direct result of my cannon arm and lucky bounces  . hopefully our sophomore season won't be as scary as our rookie one.
and i want to holla at the t-hawks (!), who i'm sure we'll be seeing again in boston this year
Last year we decided to go for both the center goal and the ramp and it turned out pretty well. This year we're going for everything again.

I think scoring in the middle row would probably be the best position strategically, since you can continue making a vertical row either from the upper or lower "spider leg." Other than that, I'd guess the bottom row.

Our team is working on an arm that would theoretically be able to get up to the top row, though it's more likely we'll just stick with the bottom two. The primary function of our robot will be a Defender/Platform for the end of the match so the arm is a secondary priority. If we have enough weight we'll go for all 3. :)
It is key in this game to be flexible with your scoring options and tube retrieval options. I think it is an important strategy to work with your alliance partners on this one, such as one team taking a specific part of the rack. Although this may create another defensive strategy to notice scoring patterns and then block a team from their section, that's a completely different story...

Our team has an extendable lift which travels 10 feet in the air. We will score on all three levels. :yikes:

we've got a design in mind that will effectively score on all three levels. The only problem now is implementing it :D
(btw, we haven't figured out how to completely tap into the powers of magic smoke, so we've started actually engineering:p )
arm is being designed to score in all three. and we are going to magically levitate and lift 2 bots for 90 extra points :)

Our team will figure that out when we get the arm finished but as it stands right now our goal is all three. :ahh:

were shooting for the middle and lower rows, using the arm we desingned we might be able to go higher but were gonna try and keep it simple.
