Just wondering how many hours have you guys spent so far in the '07 build season?

We had a post-kickoff meeting for 3 hours, off Sunday, then 2 hour team meeting on Monday.

Right now I'm currently pulling an all nighter to get the CAD drawings in a day early for the CNC work...that's gonna take a while. I guess I've spent about 20 hours+ in Inventor since the kickoff.

That makes a grand total of 25+ hours, out of 2 days so far in the season...

Well basically we meet for 12hrs on Saturday. Right now I have logged in 16 hrs but I know the students have out in more. I'm going to try to keep track of how many total but we'll see how that goes.

18 hours on saturday. 10 hours on sunday. 10.5 hours today.

Total of 38.5 hours (just in our lab. More if you count time at home working on robotics).

who has time to keep track of hours? :)

Myself, about 17 hours on Sat, 2 on Sunday, and 3 today. So about 22. But many members spent most of Sunday working too, so up towards 40 for the most intense members.

Same for me.

Officially, let's see....

Kickoff: 4 hours
Post-Kickoff KoP Inventory: 2 hours
Monday meeting: 2 hours

That doesn't factor in about ten hours of number-crunching and plotting and scheming.

We still haven't had your first meeting of the season. Our team thinks its better to let the game sink in before we go all crazy with strategy and design. But after tonight we sould know exactly what we will be shoting for. Then we can actually begin design (I ave allready designed 4 or so robots that I can present covering just about every situation).

15 hours so far, and that's because I've got exams next week. After my calc exam though, I'm gonna be in the shop pretty much non-stop.

01-09-2007, 02:24 PM
Officially... 6 hours on Saturday, Not allowed to meet on Sundays, 6 hours on Monday. But the students were "supposed" to read the manual on Sunday.

In my opinion... we haven't done anything with the time.

We are suppose to keep track:yikes:
well lets see i think i have spent about 25 hours not including kick off.. but we did not meet yesterday but are today:cool:

01-09-2007, 02:41 PM
We've only met once and it was today during lunch. I myself have been thinking about it none stop and came up with 10 designs... trashed 8 of them and are left with two. lol. I'm movitvated beyond reason with this thing... trouble is getting the rest of the team to get this pumped

01-09-2007, 02:42 PM
Sleep... what is this sleep you speak of?

Sleep... what is this sleep you speak of?

I told a friend the other day, "It's robotics season; I no longer know what sleep is."

Similarly to Zoheb. Our team (118) meets for kickoff at UHCL and than we got to know each other afterwards for a few hours. Than sunday we spent 5 hours on functions of the bot and I have done about 6 hours of work researching designs + parts we can use and around 3-4 hours (cause i couldn't sleep) on the website....

haha 118! great job last year at Texas! it sucks we broke down in the last match of the finals. -_- what regional are you guys going to this year?

Lets see, saturday was a total of 16 hours....sunday was a total of 12 hours....and 10 hours on monday night, this doesnt include cad time, whichis probably an additional 5-6 hours

01-09-2007, 03:49 PM
Sat(kickoff)- i was here from 7a-5p (10hrs) we did planing and problem identification
Mon- 2:20 - 5, we brainstormed ideas and discussed rules
Tue- 2:20 - ? (we are here now) eliminating/ chosing ideas

Kickoff started at 9:00 AM, BAE showed a video to our team then they watched the feed. Go back to the high school and discuss until 6:00 PM. Following day start at 12:00 end at 6:00 PM. Last night we were at the school until 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM.

That would be a total of 18 hours (assuming kickoff ended at 12:00, I wasn't paying attention to the time at that point).

In the first couple of weeks we spend 6 hours on Sundays 3 hours on weekdays and 9 hours on Saturdays. That's 30 hours a week. :ahh: The days get longer towards the end of build season.

01-09-2007, 04:04 PM
The team officially met:
Sat. 3pm-6pm
Monday. 6pm-9pm

I've spent:
Sat. 2 hours to record kickoff + 3 hours @ meeting.
Sunday. Worked 4-5 hours trying to get that camera to work!
Monday 3 hours @ meeting(working on the camera + 1-2 hours @ home (working on the camera).

~15 hours since kickoff.

Two hours?!?!? What luxury!!

Trust me, eventually you'll get used to it. If we didn't get used to not having enough time to get everything done, we'd all be dead by now.

Don't let the robotics part of your life take over the school part of your life. I don't want to see all of you fail classes over the robotics program. It is great to do all this work but just don't over do it.

Saturday: Noon-3 = 3 Hours
Monday: 5PM-8PM = 3 Hours

6 Hours so far. We are meeting again in about half-an-hour so im sure we will put in another 3 or 4 hours tonight.

Today we had a meeting from 2:10-5:30. We wrapped up the CAD design and went through the KOP more extensively, assembled the gearboxes (and only stripped one bolt :P), got to work on the control board, and sent in some CAD drawings to be CNC'ed.

Tomorrow we are meeting at 3:04, aka after school, I also have to order parts during school tomorrow. Order gearboxes and CIMs, talk to the CNC guy, etc.

Saturday: 7-4 (9 hours)
Monday: 2:30-5:00 (2.5 hours)
Tuesday: 2:30-6:00 (3.5 hours)
Total: 15 hours.

Not so bad... Got a decent amount done too. At least from the programming team =P

I have a question.... Do CD hours count as research or anything??

01-09-2007, 09:02 PM
We met for
6 hours Saturday
+8 hours Monday [no school]
+5 hours today
19 hours total, two days into the 2007 season ^.^

01-09-2007, 09:06 PM
we met for an hour Saturday, we couldn't do more because our mentor got sick and was hospitalized

Monday 4 hours

Tuesday 5 hours

so far we have 10 hours in

01-09-2007, 09:48 PM
4 hours Sunday, 3 hours Monday, probably 3 hours Friday, a few on Saturday or Sunday. Then Monday we are off of school so we most likely will be meeting for 5-6 hours.

01-09-2007, 11:47 PM
The correct question to ask is, how many hours of sleep have I lost? :)

01-09-2007, 11:53 PM
Kickoff was an all niter for about four of us so myself I have pulled about 40 hours since kickoff and lost lots of sleep. Well all I have to say is it's for a good cause so what's wrong with a little sacrifice. well to bed now for a little of sleep before I jump back on it.

01-10-2007, 12:17 AM
Well, kickoff was 4 hours
Then after kickoff was 5 hours, i.e. crazy argument about strategy.
After the official meeting was my electronics team design session, about 4 hours.
Sunday was 5 hours.
So total about 18 hours, not counting all those time I'm on CD.

01-10-2007, 01:55 AM
kick off then bout 1 hour going over kop
then 1hr eating pizza and going over the rules of the game
(at home on comp going over the rest of the rules)

during 6th period going over arena specs, after school taco bell and coming up with a design and going over chief delphi speculating on what bots are popular or not. thats from 2:30 till 6

6th period till 6 something building wooden mock up of key element to our design

We locked ourselves in a broom closet only emerging for bathroom breaks, food, and, of course, cases of mountain dew when our supply runs out.
