Ya so this is the best game ever invented! I just want to know how many other people enjoy this game and what your FAV songs are.

I've never played it, but do I want to! I heard it's quite possibly the most addicting game out there. But then Guitar Hero comes into play. Which one do you think is more fun?

I've never been much of a DDR person. I could play if I really wanted to, but I don't have the pateince for some J-Pop.

Guitar Hero is my choice really when it comes to console rythem games. But overall, Elite Beat Agents is my favorite rythem game. Period.

Favorite non Stepmania songs:
Tsugaru
Sakura (heavy, yeah i know its a 10)
Cartoon Heroes
Burning Heat
Rhythm and Police

Favorite Stepmania songs (non-pad):
Evolution (there’s about 50 remixes of this song though)
Boss Machine (DM Ashura version)
Those who Fight Further (Black Mages version)

i'm not that impressed at all with supernova.. i don't know.. it's too... american-ey for a DDR game. I like obscure j-pop songs that i don't know a lot more than fall out boy xD Anyways, i love stepmania and my favorite console DDR is DDRMAX2 for the PS2, cuz it has the most of my favorite songs! Fav songs are:

Candy (<3 and star)
Tsugaru
Burning Heat
Twin Bee
Cartoon Heroes
Can't stop fallin' in love (speed mix prz)
End of the Century
Paranoia (all of them)
oh, and all of the songs in DDR: Mario Mix (which yes, i was a big enough GCN fan / DDR fan / mario fan to buy)

I have the game as well but I haven't really had the time to play it. The few times I have gotten to play it it was ok.

13-01-2007, 12:59
Ahahaha, it's like I just found the hub of anime fans. (Myself included!) I agree with the dude who isn't impressed with SuperNova, it's just so lame... My favorite mixes are MAX2 and EXTREME. I haven't played in a while! Probably should, it really keeps those stray pounds off XD.

Wetzel, I didn't know you played!! Someone haaaaas to bring it to a meeting! Showdownnnn.

I Have them both, And I must say that I like Guitar Hero a lot better than DDR ^^;; Even though I like them both. DDR Supernova was kinda disappointing though. The songs weren't living up to DDR Standards, really >.>:yikes:

Stepmania is my thing.... I created a simple converter for my xbox pads to usb for my computer, and I just download and play songs.

Have over 8000.... (gotta love torrents)

My favorites?
Wow tough question.

My absolute favorite used to be End of The Century No.9, but that was back in the days of Konamix. Now I enjoy the Max series, Red Zone, Hong Kong Magic, Burning Heat, and many, many more. (All on Heavy/Oni.) If anyone is looking for a particular song, or a particular series (Have all of them, original arcade, dancing stage, korean, usa mixes, home games, anime versions, video game editions, plus a lot of customs...) just PM me or put it in this thread...

DDR freak,
Jacob

Psychoflood
14-01-2007, 12:10
haha it depends what PlayStation version you're talking about, since there's like... 6 of them:

DDRKONAMIX
DDRMAX
DDRMAX2
DDREXTREME
DDREXTREME2
DDRSUPERNOVA

I was specifically saying Supernova isn't that good, however DDRMAX2 has songs that are all in the arcade machine versions of DDR, as does DDRMAX, KONAMIX and some songs from EX and EX2. They all have the kind of J-pop (Japanese-pop) music that appears in the arcade versions, and if you have metal pads at home (yes i'm a loser) then sometimes being at home even beats out the arcade machines (free ^^)

I don't understand why you have to come in here and bash what we're all enjoying talking about. This is obviously a thread supporting DDR for people who are excited and enthusiastic about it. If you're going to badmouth what everyone else in this thread is excited and happy about, have a little more respect for why this thread exists.

Yeah. J-Pop is definitely wayyyy cooler than any American mix. I love playing the original 8 series set for arcade in stepmania. There are also quite a few custom songs out there that are that style but aren't official (for example: I have 5 anime theme song mixes and a few Japanese video game soundtrack mixes.)

Hmmmm i see a problem with your thoery... you said "i beat the so called"best player in CT"on akina snow downhill" the problem is EVEN YOU said "so called", just becasue sum 1 is "so called" the best player doesnt mean they are. and by the way CT doesnt have the best players... so you only beat a decent person in CT not the best.

Stop bickering about who is the best and from what states. This is all a moot point because:

I AM THE BEST!!!

OK, jk. I am good, but by no means the best. There is no 'best' player, because different styles compete differently, and there is always someone who can beat the 'best'... even MAX himself.

And Southington is like 10 minutes from my house... I don't live in Hartford (I go to a magnet school there.) Perhaps a DDR tourny??

And this year at WPI, I should bring some pads and stepmania, because last year was a PS2 with cheap crappy mats and MAX2 I think... Limited songs.
Who should I contact about setting this up?

If you want to play Beatmaina on a arcade console, come to the VCU regional! In our student commons (about 4 blocks from the Siegel Center) we have Beatmania, Parapara, DDR, and that other hand waving game that I can never remember what it is called.

Well, I play StepMania on my computer with a DDR Dance Pad for xbox that I hand-soldered to be a USB controler. The reason I did that is because my Xbox decided to break all of my CDs by writing a circular ring through them. I lost MegaMan Collection, Star Wars Republic Commando and DDR Ultramix 3 - the only games I ever played on the system. So I gave up on it and soldered the controler so that I could use it in StepMania.

I have a boatload of Japanese stuff.... I love Japanese songs and themes... I have lots of stuff like ltf-mix and foonmix and stuff like that. I can pretty much ace mostly every song with a rating of 8 or lower.

And I use the CyberiaStyle 3 theme which is awesome beyond reason. I'm also trying to make some songs for it and I think I'm getting better as time goes along and I get a better feel for which difficulty should play like.

Is talking about StepMania or other DDR simulators off topic? Because if it is, I appologize.

Guitar Hero? Pffff.
Guitar Freaks is much more challenging.
Plus, they didn't cut the songs on GH at all so you end up playing the same chords 100x. Not fun.

Good songs, but the whole set up pretty much reminds you of how you should play a real guitar instead.

Besides, Para Para is good for engineers. It gives us ideas!

We had a social at our school after the UTC regional. We had a 16 person xbox tourny, a DJ and best of all a few machines set up with stepmania. The kids from other teams and our team (especially myself) had a lot of fun.

Even though I started to have chest pain and had to be rushed to the hospital (I have a history of pneumothoraxs)... But I wouldn't go until I finished the current song I was on (Rhythm and Police; Oni) :D

Oh well. It was fun.

Seeing this thread reminds me how little I play it now; I used to be obsessed with DDR and Stepmania, but I haven't played either more than once or twice in the past 6 months. Part of it is my metal pad busted a solder on one of the arrows a year ago and I never took the time to fix it, but robotics has also just played a bigger role recently.

Anybody do Stepmania online? I used to do it way back but my account's probably been deleted by now; maybe I should get back into it again.

Yeah, lets do DDR 5thMix. Lots of good stuff on there. The new stuff is to American-Pop for me. I like the old Konamix era stuff.

I have to think about specific songs to play...

I'm bringing mine for Xbox, I think Joe and Collin are bringing it for the PS2. You won't be able to miss it!

I wish I was able to go...because I need to get back into practice. I used to be really good, but now I'm down on standard. *tear*

favorite songs: Burning Heat, Injection of Love (Hina Mix), Irresistiblement, MAX 300, V (for Extreme), and some more I can't think of

I play SM as well, but I'm not on the forums or anything. I only wish my XBox - USB converter would work so I could use my pad with my PC. -_-

Just do it yourself. Cut off the end of your xbox pad and cut off a regular USB end and splice them together. Just put the colored wire together (solder if you want) and tape. Forget the yellow wire. It's not used (I think its for memory cards maybe? idk... I've made plenty of xbox DDR pads USB and have never used the yellow wire.)

If you need pictures, I can provide them.
