Is it a necesity to use EasyC programming or am I allowed to use the old programming in MPlab?
Also for EasyC, why is the code given to us a 12 digit code and the unlock code 12 letters and numbers?
You can use EasyC or MPLab.

Easy C is an option. It is not required. Using Microchip C and MPlab is still quite acceptable.
Sorry, but I can't answer the question concerning the unlock code.

Hello Rachel,
easyC PRO is a programming option for FRC teams. If you are comfortable with MPlab, you'll probably love easyC PRO's C code editor, which allows you to edit the C code directly.
Our licensing software focuses around unlock codes, which are created by CD Keys (the 12 alphanumeric characters you mentioned - we issue these to your team) and PC Specific Codes (an eight digit number created by your hard drive). Our software links these two numbers together and creates an unlock code, an eight character code which is also alphanumeric. This tells our software that the license on the computer is legitimate.
Please feel free to contact me directly if you are having licensing errors. Thanks!
