View Full Version : Team 1825's website

Hi there! I'm the webmaster for JCH Robotics, a homeschooled team from Kansas. Unfortunately, at this point I'm a -tiny- bit lacking in experienced website designer/developer friends to consult as far as the website goes, so I figured I'd ask here...

What I do have:

1. Search engine optimization (our page ranks highly in most relevant search queries in Google)
2. Dynamic systems (including an automatic mass-mailer, a fully dynamic calendar system, news system, and picture system that any team member can use)
3. Complete user management/security system including some very handy search and tracking tools

What I don't have:

1. Website is not currently FIRST-optimized
2. Methods of interaction with other teams are at the moment limited to our forums, which haven't received a lot of attention from the FIRST community in general

Also, I'm not that great of a graphics designer.

What recommendations do you guys have?

I like the site a lot, I agree with Kyle in that it need A LOT more graphics. Put pictures of your team working, thinking, sitting, parts, explosions (hopefully this won't happen :D ). More pictures would do well.

The next step, FIRST logo on every page, prominently displayed. When using the logo, make sure you stay with in the guidelines (http://www.usfirst.org/community/resourcecenter.aspx?id=650).

One more thing, as I hover over the right hand links, the page jellos (wiggles with the addition of the active border). An easy solution would be moving to fixed width. (FF

As a side note, you competed in BEST?? My team did as well. We didn't compete last year as our regional was dropped. You can still check out our 2005 BEST site at www.roboticks408.com (http://www.roboticks408.com).

Very nice site.

Thanks for the comments, guys--I'm currently working on a commercial site, but you can count on seeing some of those suggestions implemented once I get a bit of free time. :)
