Help with the SMC SOlenoid

Ok, So we read in the part description that when you charge both sides of the double solenoid it should hold position, however, this does not seem to be workin very well, we are looking over the schematics and the charts are not making sense does anyone know how to wire to up so we can have a forward, reverse, and a hold?

From the 2007 Pneumatics Manual:
Always avoid turning on both solenoids at the same time. While this
won’t hurt the valve, you cannot be sure which way the spool will shift.
So, whatever you're doing, I would advise against charging both solenoids at the same time.

OK, that is wrong, if that is the situation, then how are we supposed to stop a solenoid in Mid stroke which is what we need to accomplish because we are using a scissor lift...

The double solenoid that was shipped with the kit does not hold position. It either goes to one side or the other and when it does, the other side is exhausted to the atmostphere. You can make it hold by hooking up another solenoid to the exhaust and turning it on or off to make it hold. Another solution is to buy a valve that is "center off". It will hold position. See the other threads mentioned.

There is a much easier way to do this instead of using a ton of solenoids and valves. SMC makes a valve that will allow you to stop anywhere within your stroke.
