aviv_levy0,
According to the parts flowchart (pg. 19) (http://www.usfirst.org/uploadedFiles/Community/FRC/FRC_Documents_and_Updates/2007_assets/Manual/8%20-%20The_Robot_RevE.pdf), the use of rivets is legal. Given these conditions, including rivets on the robot does pass <R23> and <R48>, which are the conditions for it to pass the safety inspection (http://www.usfirst.org/uploadedFiles/Community/FRC/FRC_Documents_and_Updates/2007%20Robot%20Inspection%20Checklist%20-%20rev%20B1.pdf) as well. Hope this helps,
mgreenley

If rivets are illegal than we are hosed.

This was last years:

Aviv,
Rivets are commonly used and come under the general heading of "Fasteners". As such they do not need to be included in your BOM. Inspectors will watch for rivets that are sticking out of the robot and that may pose a safety hazard. Those used on the outside of the robot must also reamin within the maximum dimensions as listed in the robot rules, so be careful when checking the size of the robot.
