Just make sure you declare them outside of the "while(autonomous_mode)" loop and everything should be fine.

You don't straight-up code with LabView. You either use easyC or MPLAB to code the controls. I don't know LabView well enough to instruct you on how to use it, but there are plenty of threads on how to program around here.
