View Full Version : Who has submitted their animation?
I just submitted my animation today. I showed it to my team, and they thought it was pretty cool ^^. I certainly didn't feel like messing with it, and I figured I might as well submit it before I ruin it. Our sponsor has 1.5 Mb/sec symmetric line, so the 106 MiB upload wasn't too bad.

Team 547 has completed all of the animation as far as 3DS Max goes, but We still have editing, music, sound effects, and voice over to add to it.
I really like our animation this year. I wish that I could get a preview up, but we've been so busy (we have 4 scenes with 4 completely different art styles) that I haven't even had time to think about screenshots. Overall, we've been extremely fortunate. Last year our animation was created by three people who were all Juniors, but we were the only ones and were worried about not having anybody to carry on the 547 animation team. This year we got three new animators, and fortunately they've been picking up on this really fast. Also, our composed music is scheduled to be recorded by the school's concert band on Monday. I can't wait to show it off when we're done.
It will definitely be uploaded to FIRST soon.
We finished the animation but I have to do all the paperwork and get the storyboard online. It should be ready by Monday.

I uploaded the submission. Was the URL on the entry page for the storyboard? Because it asked for the animation submission, so I put a link to our .mov file on our website. Now I'm thinking that URL was supposed to be the storyboard.
(It's been a long week...)
Edit: I e-mailed firstbase and got a response. Yes, the URL on the entry form page is supposed to be the URL of your storyboard.
Team 1625 uploaded theirs on Wed evening. We have had it done for 3 weeks now but we have been working on sound and voice overs that are in it so weve been busy with it.....

Team 1676 was finished tonight. When I left half an hour ago, we were trying to convert an excellent .avi file to a decent .mov (I think) file- wasn't working the greatest for us. Oh well. But, ours should be submitted by tonight. I wanted to get a link for it up, but the animators won't let me until the deadline's past... oh well again.

I'm going to be uploading 547's tonight. Due to complications with the online storyboard situation, I haven't gotten past the first page of the submission process, even though the animation has been done for a couple of days now. But it's going to be resolved tonight, so shouldn't be a problem.
As for the .avi to .mov problem, what I did was converted an uncompressed .avi to a .mov using an mpeg-4 compressor in Premiere. Make sure the play options in Quicktime player are set to the option involving "Use high quality video when possible" or something like that. The quality is pretty nice. I remember last year having a mediocre quality video output, but when I saw it on the big screen at regionals the quality was very nice, so I don't think it'll be a problem at all.
Good luck to all teams!
