Nice robot. Looks like Florida really is going to be rockin' this year.
Quick question: Why are there pool noodles...INSIDE your robot?

The Condor's wings look quite inviting if I say so myself! Really impressed with the KISS manipulator too... would have never guessed it would work as well as it does.
I can't wait for UCF... really was hoping to see you guys at the swamp scrimmage, but you gotta do what you gotta do to get done in time. Nice job!

Probably to dampen the impacts of robots coming up the ramps.
Looks like 116 wasn't the only team to think of having human players throw directly to the bot over the wall (pity our design isn't as receptive to it as yours is).

It really does look like a condor...
From Wikipedia:
"There are reports of adult animal weighing 11 to 15 kilograms..." - no weight issue here
"...with a wingspan of 2.8 to 3.6 meters..." - perfect for two robots
"They are able to fly after six months..." - a little longer build season and you could have gotten 90 points!

Uhhhh... they arn't going to Finger Lakes Regional? And niether are you! I think you meant UCF (University of Central Florida) ;)Well, its actually known as the FLorida Regional, but other people refer to it as UCF, since that's the true location of the regional. FLorida Regional and Finger Lakes Regional unfortunately have the same initials.
What ever happened to the Central FLorida Regional?

i'm surprised that the arm works as well as it does. But if it does, i guess that's all you needs to.
The ramps look nice, and i really like the deploying mechanism.
That looks great I hope to see it in person.
I love the wing deployment and the speed of the arm you guys, and girls, are going to be a strong force this year, best of luck.

I like the caution tags on your bot. They add a bit of uniqueness to it and the colors.
That robot reminds me much of the stories of our 2001 robot CONDOR (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/photos/12340). I want to see how your wings deploy and how much better it looks in person.

Very nice Arefin and co. Looks amazing can't wait to see it in action. The caution tape on the ramps is a nice saftey feature. The ramps appear to be pretty sturdy and effective looking. I like the simplicitly of it all. Good luck to 1345 see ya in a few weeks.

Thanks for all the comments. Kids are loving the feedbacks they are getting and also are very confident.
Just incase anyone missed the video, you can find it here... http://www.stranahanrobotics.com/robot_preview.html
Let me try to answer few questions and comment on some comments.
Michelle, the pool noodles inside our robot are there to let the other teams know that it’s time to stop. Let’s face it, you will be driving up other ramps and you will be looking at it since its right in front of you. If you don’t know when to stop, you shouldn’t be driving in first place. The way teams train their drivers, I know they will be pro at driving up ramps. Also they work just like Sean pointed out. The noodles are attached to the ramp structure and the arm structure. There will be an extra ramp sitting in the practice area. Each of our alliance partners are required to go up that ramp before they even attempt to climb up on our ramp during an actual match.
Adam, we would love to play against you guys. Can’t wait.
Phill, you guys won’t be breaking that ramp. Either you guys will go up using low gear (unless it’s the final 1.3 match) or you ask Kenny to not to be so aggressive. Like I told Dave, you guys will be climbing up the extra ramp, before you guys climb onto the actual ones.
Wendy, through the whole build season, you guys have been around talking to me. We know what you guys are capable of. Wouldn’t mind at all to be on the same alliance as you guys. Whether I need a place to stay, whether I need food, whether I need to talk to someone, you guys stepped up at all time. I owe you guys.
Shane, the most interesting post I read in the thread. lol…
Dan, ready to announce?
Madi, I hope your eyes don’t pop out or jaw drops while you are out on the field working. It’s not that great. There are many other teams who will amaze you. We are only a 4th year team with very little resources. We did our best.
Rich, a pvc stick always solves it all. Think simpel (my mentors beat that into me).
Barry, there is a platform, a ramp, and a 2nd little ramp. It starts off at about 8 degrees angle, and goes up to 15 degrees.
Pavan, I so didn’t know that you guys named your robot Condor back in 2001. Actually blame Shane (ZZII 527) for telling us that it looks like a bird. That’s how we came up with the name.
The Condor is ready for some action. Can’t wait for March 8th, 2007.
