Will you think that way if you aren't currently in Archimedes? They added 2 teams this morning. I'm not sure who, but we are up to 324

Simple answer... no. LOL... completely biased towards what division 648 is in. I just think the "super division" (ie, Curie last posted) will eat itself alive with the amount of high caliber teams, and someone's going to get to Einstein on a whim and feather (read: luck). I could totally be wrong, though.

Doubt it, unless they leave lots of holes for pending teams. It is just too soon after week 5

But it is 1 week before Atlanta, plans need to be made.

I'm sure you might see them on Einstein, don't worry.

Id rather play with them. ( Or against them and win )

The addition of 84 is probably going to shift 111 (and pretty much all of current Curie) out of your division

If 84 goes. Then id have to say that Curie's squad is going to be in another division. ;) Oh well, hopefully we can see them all on Einstein

Anyone got a new list?

Someone's gotta write a script to look for changes in the FIRST page and update lists accordingly :p

:yikes:
The scheduling algorithm won't let you play with them. So you'd better think up your strategy to beat them. That is, if you both stay in the same division.

Qualifying Teams have until Friday, April 6th to get the entry fee into the hands of FIRST. My guess is that the official lists will not be available until after then. I know of one Rookie All Star team that is definitely going that is not on the current list of 325 teams, that tells me that FIRST is only adding teams to the list as they recieve payment. 336 teams would be a round number of teams to work with. 84 teams per division would divide evenly by six and by my estimation would give each team seven qualifying matches. Roughly ten hours of matches with ten matches per hour would give you 100 matches. 84 teams divided by 6 gives you 14 matches to get every team in. 100 divided by 14 equals 7.14 matches or seven matches per team. Please don't crusify me if someone else has different numbers. It would certainly be great if we knew Friday night or early Saturday. It is so much easier to get preliminary scouting informaiton together before you leave home.

EDIT: Whoa! Just saw the post before mine. 344 Teams! So goes my theory. The All Star I was refering to is listed.

EDIT: Sorry Raul from 111, I did not see your earlier post, my mistake, at least we agree on the numbers though!

boo they shifted ;/
Can anyone possibly give me an estimate to how many more teams may be added. I know it's not so much of an answerable question to ask, but what's a good range?

0- any multiple of 4 up to 16 (ie 0, 4, 8, 12, 16)

16 more would be 90 teams per division (360 total), no surrogates. I think we can handle that (376 pit spots ;) ). They certainly have no shortage of waitlist teams (like previous years).

However, I think 0 or 4 is more likely.

Don't think for a minute that there will be no surrogates, even if all the numbers are evenly divisible by 4 and the number of matches per team. This year's scoring system seems fixated on ensuring that each match consist of one team from the first 1/3 of teams numerically, one team from the second 1/3, and one team from the last 1/3. The "thirds" appear to be across all 2007 registered FIRST teams, not just those teams attending a particular event or in a particular division. Thus, if there are more teams in the second and third thirds than there are in the first third, some teams in the first third will wind up with a surrogate match at the end.

Having said that, the scoring system developers have an extra week to tweak the system before the Championship Event. No telling what improvements they might make to it.

I'll laugh when FIRST decides to change their algorithm for creating the divisions. They did change the scheduling algorithm after all...:yikes:

The 3 pools DO fill up based on the particular teams at that event. Just compare Philly and Colorado match lists. If the number of teams is not divisible by 3, the lower number pool is the last to fill.

If each division has 90 teams that is 30 even in each pool, and 15 match average cycles. Now I am not saying the scheduling algorithm will not schedule 6 surrogates just for the heck of it, but it doesnt have to.

I wouldnt be surprised if they changed it up.

Yea.. here's what they do: break the list into 4 pools of teams. Pool 1 with the 344/4 lowest numbered teams, and pool 4 with the 344/4 highest numbered teams. The first matches this season have been so darn 1337 ub3tr g00d suepr crazzzy that the idea haver for this stupid (but good in theory) pooling systems decides, why the heck not.. one team from the top of each pool gets picked out and put in a division. With every pass a division gets one "super veteran," a "veteran," an "intermediate," and a "rookie."

Do you guys think that even though teams can register til friday we'll probably have the division (official or not) by the end of the day? I do.

Hhmmm...thats kind of a coincidence for us if thats the formula they use. Our team has been in Newton for the past four years I think (all the years we've gone to Nationals)

According to that formula though, we would be in Curie now....I like the cool blue of Newton though.......

As of now I'd say newton's got the toughest robots of the lot, but things can and will change.

It just jumped to 344 teams, we may be close

Where did you find that?

Either way, Welcome to Curie, Joe! Looks like a good one.

0 pending teams.

Teams that are waitlisted don't show as pending in FIRST's database, as far as I'm aware. Pending status is given to teams that have registered through TIMS while there's an available spot at the event, but have yet to pay. If there are no available spaces, you're waitlisted.

I could be making all or most of this up, but I seem to recall that's how it goes.

I think that division list is pending. It may not end at a nice 344 (less, because teams don't find the money to pay), but before the end of today!

*fingers crossed*

BTW, have you seen the division one the current team list, and last years assignment "algorithm" nets?

Anyone got a new list?

Someone's gotta write a script to look for changes in the FIRST page and update lists accordingly :p
Ok.

http://www.thebluealliance.net/cd/divisionparse.php

This will dynamically update. Better late than never, I guess..

When divisions are released for good we will create a page with similar functionality. (All teams listed with links to match videos and data...)

EDIT: And they definitely aren't following the usual order.
