View Full Version : 2007 Webcast Schedule?

I was just curious if anyone knew what the 2007 NASA webcast schedule might look like -- if there's one at all -- or when that information might be available. This is our team's FIRST year traveling to an out-of-state regional and we'd like for our parents and supporters to be able to cheer us on while we're down in the Silicon Valley, but it'll take some time to get them all on board with how webcasting works and what they'll need to do to watch.

Pretty much a guarantee VCU will be one of the first week ones. Otherwise, it's up in the air. I'd like to know too Madison. Dave?

This (http://robotics.arc.nasa.gov/events/webcasts/regionals.htm) page from 2005 said that the 2006 schedule would be posted by March 3rd and linked on the robotics.nasa.gov homepage; I would guess they have about the same planning schedule this year.

i really hope they will e on NASA TV as well. as this is the first eyar of having NASA TV! i wan't to see it on TV and be so proud, other then sitting next to the laptop for the whole day.

Hope they do the video feeds in QuickTime as well as Windows Media and Real!

I'm pretty sure Vegas, Florida, Lone Star, and VCU will get NASA Webcast coverage. Chesapeake might get it again (since it was shafted in 2006 after a promise of a webcast). There might be so many good regionals again that won't get webcasted.

After rooting around a bit I think I found the 2007 schedule:

I have been in touch with my contacts at NASA, I have offered to web stream 4 regionals to them. I am still waiting for decisions to be made. The amount of regionals depends on if I can get a high speed feed on which to stream.

I am also hoping for some of the regional to be played on NASA TV. I would like to have some of the team members over to my home to watch it. Having saturday events on TV would make it a lot easier than 10 people around a computer.

I'm glad I finally got DirectTV to watch the events on our projector :D It's gotta be better than sitting in front of my PC when the feed constantly drops :(

For everyone hoping to watch on NASA TV: Word has it that they will only be doing the championships on there, and not the regionals. This was posted by a member of SOAP in another thread.

Also, stay tuned for a NJ Regional Webcast that is not currently listed on the NASA site. NASA has approved it, and we are pending an internet connection at the event, but either way 177 will be providing the archives to The Blue Alliance for some secret plans, and anyone such as SOAP who may request it.

The NJ Webcast is currently live (but I can't give out the IP). Expect to see us up and running with in the next few hours, and continuous coverage throughout the weekend.

I will post the link as soon as it is available to me, and we will be archiving the matches as well for The Blue Alliance and anyone else like SOAP's purposes.

clear for me.

StephLee
01-03-2007, 13:58
I can't see the endzones either, I guess it's just the camera positioning.

I can't make out the team numbers with the real time scoring, but other than that, I like the RTS this year so far.

Jon K.
01-03-2007, 14:08
This morning the RTS was full on the bottom of the screen but since lunch end it has been chopped. The endzones were never fully visible though.

Greg Marra
01-03-2007, 14:15
I can't make out the team numbers with the real time scoring, but other than that, I like the RTS this year so far.

I would prefer to be able to see a numeric indication of the time remaining in addition to the progress bar. At a glance, the progress bar can give you a feel for the time, but not how much time is left. As a driver or coach this year, I would probably look exclusively at the clock on the far alliance station (if it wasn't obstructed by tubes) to see how much time I have left.

I may have to invest in a watch with a nice, large display and a stopwatch to keep myself on track as a coach, I agree that the bar is nice but a countdown would help the drive teams.

84 ringers scored
1 spoiler on the rack
16 12-inch lifts
8 4-inch lifts
44 autonomous modes (with or without keeper)
23 autonomous modes with keeper

That should be accurate, the only match I think I may have written the score down wrong was match 18. Everything else should be okay.

(we are experiencing technical issues with this stream, please stand by, we will have it up as soon as possible)

So at least they know of the problem. I'm sure the message will go away when it starts working again.

Ramp deployment early seems to be a big problem for a lot of teams; that's what 122's yellow card was for, because they did it in a few different matches.

VCU went really choppy towards the end of the day, but most of the day it was great. I hope it'll be fixed again tomorrow.

Sorry, the choppy-ness should be gone now. I had to run some tests on the computer that is streaming. It bumped up the CPU usage and we started to drop frames. It should be better now.

I"m getting the audio with VLC, but the video isn't showing. Is this a problem with my computer, or the webcast?Probably your computer. The NJ webcast works fine in Media Player Classic 6.4.9.0 using the following codecs:

Video: Windows Media Video 9 320x240 [Out]
Audio: Windows Media Audio 44100Hz mono 48Kbps [Out]

VLC sometimes takes several seconds (under a minute), to process the video feed because it does not have very ideal Windows Media Codecs built in.

What happened to Boston and Waterloo practice day?
What's up with that?

I'm going to be helping out with Boston's video stuff tomorrow, and I am pretty sure there will be a webcast. Lots of teams here are having significant issues getting robots functional, so many matches are going out as 1v1s. All of this should be resolved by tomorrow though.

Wait till you see our pretty backdrop, too.

Good question!
All I got in my email from NASA was there would be NO webcast, not way.
Theres a guy that willing to get something going if someone with a server would send it out.

Had my hope up too...

You could send NASA a email telling them how much we'd like to watch it...
maybe if enough do they will get something for at least Fri & Sat going.
