While we are talking about these folks, did anyone hear what happened on San Diego on Saturday? The Emcee sails in in a boat! A BOAT! A real like 18 foot sailboat with blue banner sails! Right in front of the field! And the judges come in wearing all this beach gear, and throwing gigantic beach balls into the crowd, and like 50 people storm the field throwing rings everywhere, and it was just insane.

I think Steve's MC'd Detroit every year - certainly since 2005. I forget who was announcer in the past, but it wasn't always Dave.

Simply amazing.

The first year at Detroit I was the announcer and Paul C was the MC. Since then I have been the MC and Dave has been the announcer. I was suppose to be the announcer but Dave asked to switch. I agreed but was really intimidated that year. It has now been 3 years that Dave and I have worked together and he has helped me out lots. I always offer him the MC job but I think that he likes announcing for a change.

I hope somebody has pictures/video somewhere. Verbrugge's going to have a hard time topping that one at Championship.

I'm not going to lie...without Wayne these competitions won't be much. About 60% of the credit for the exciting regionals belong to that man (the other 40% belonging to the robots) I don't think I've ever seen a MC pump up a crowd as much as Wayne does.

This is a GOOD thread.......FIRST should be able to ADD the names of the MC and game announcer to their official web site list of all regional events.
For Finger Lakes Regional, now in its 3rd year, this year's MC and game announcer were fantastic. After some last-minute changes and shuffles, Ellery Wong from Xerox came forward as the Master of ceremonies and did a great job over three days! The game announcer , JonnDar Bradshaw, was also fantastic, especially given that FLR had a video simulcast over our local cable TV provider (Time-Warner) and JohnDar did a great "color commentary" for the at-home viewers.
Kudos to both of them....FIRST should really add the names of all the MCs, game announcers, heads of regional committees, etc to the main web site.....
