Well, since Dave seems to think so highly (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showpost.php?p=610886&postcount=18) of Team 842's "Digitally Enhanced Scouting System" and I have no idea what it is I have to ask:
What is it and how does it work?
I thought it might be good to start a new thread specifically for this and separate it from that whole "girls only" discussion going on in the other thread.
Would someone from 842 please give the rest of us that don't know the scoop on your D.E.S.S.?

Thank you very much. Must have missed the other thread. I still don't know what it does though other than now I assume it is somehow is used to collect some sort of scouting data. Is there/will there be a white paper or something on the system?
Sorry for making a second thread. If a mod wants to merge the two please do. Thanks.

I think the way it works, is that the scouts push buttons on black boxes, and thru some type of magic, a spread sheet with highly useful information pops out the other end.

It is a data logging system that uses game console controllers for the input. The black box collects the data and then it is downloaded into the spreadsheet and the data is used as needed. It looks really cool.

Squirrel and Yodameister basically got it right. We are working on making more details available shortly. We have have units available at Nationals for people to see. We were working out the bugs and testing the system. It works great! It cuts the data crunching part of the whole process to almost no time at all. Karen, one of our mentors is the originator of the whole idea. There should be more details out by next week sometime. Plans are being made so that every team can get these for next year, if they want. Sorry I can't tell you more yet. I have been sworn to wait!!
