I know that 675 and 48 will be staying at the Marriott Marquis, but is anybody else? I want to know so that if I see tons of roboticists at the hotel I'm at I won't be surprised.

Thanks. I knew that thread was there, but It's morning (and I'm lazy) so I figured I'd just make it simpler.
Now to just get some more info on those teams and print up a sheet for my coach so he knows as well.

Team 357 is also staying at the Marriot Marquis, and I'm glad to see so many great teams there as well.
176 is staying at the Marriot Marquis too

So then, what time are you all arriving in Atlanta? 675 should be touching down at about 5pm or 6pm (loooong flight, we leave San Fransisco at 9am...) and getting to the hotel pretty soon after that.

also it is the location of any FIRST volunteers who booked rooms (hence my room).
We'll be arriving in Atlanta at around 4 or 5 as well from Phoenix.
With this many teams at the Marquee, and the amount at the nearby Hyatt, Westin, and Hilton, maybe we should have a massive robotics-raid of the Peachtree Center Mall? The Marquee and Hyatt are attached to it by a tunnel, and the Hilton and Westin are a very short walk away.
I would say we should do something huge in the hotel, but when our team played tag with a group of other teams in the Hyatt in '04 security got called us. They were nice enough to open a meeting center at basement level for us though.

I didn't even know it got moved to the Marquee, I thought it was still at the Hyatt.
Either way I was looking for something a little more random. I'm sure some silly game will end up being started on Friday night, have a 150 people join it, then suddenly get killed by something stupid like a ball flying over a fence.
Anyone up for the cup game? We didn't do it at AZ this year (partially due to the lack of tables), I could do with a getting a big game of that going again.

1525 will be there too, but our mentor isn't allowing us in the pool... :(
Our mentors won't allow us in the pool either (due to our school district's rules -- all because some kid drowned on a school field trip and he was in a school district near us).

And about the pool, it will be closed for renovations during the competition, so I guess no one is really losing out. :)

It looks to me quite a few curie teams are staying there. Lucky for me my team gets discounted roomservice. I knew it would pay off someday to become a chef instead of a engineer.....
Anywho, I don't think you REALLY want a bunch of roboticists in a pool. We'd probably get along more naturally in an impromptu LAN party.

I'm providing Kyle's room at the Marriott. I'm flying in representing Foster-Miller (the company I work for), who I'm trying to get more involved in FIRST. You should see their logo around on a little something they donated for this year...

Gonna be elevator madness all over again.
65 is gonna be there wednesday morning for any team thats gonna be there early.
Team 1622 will be in the house as well! :] Looking forward to meeting new FIRST family members.

Ironically, I am currently staying in the M&M New York (Times square)..
There are 16 elevators, serving ~50 floors. When you enter the ring of elevators, you enter your floor number, and it tells you which elevator to get on. There are no buttons inside; The elevator simply takes you where you need to go.
Anyway...

Okay, so Kyle and I thought we were staying at the Marquis - actually.. we are in the cheaper Marriott closer to the competition - the Marriott Atlanta Downtown. Cheaper - but closer. Awesome.

OK, so what seemed like all 30+ teams at the Marquis just simultaneously gathered in the atrium on whatever floor they were are on and started screaming at the top of their lungs - kinda a last hurrah for everyone. 48 was in their team meeting at the time. We saw the security guys making the rounds soon after.....kinda crazy.
I missed out on the cheering. Didn't hear it because I was in a noisy room on the other side of the atrium.
Did anyone record it?
I actually think that was when everybody was cheering and clapping -- I thought it was my roommate's laptop, but then I opened up my room door and it got quite a bit louder...
If you guys are talking about Friday night, that was because it was our mentor's birthday...we started singing and the entire hotel joined in :) He was embarassed but happy, thanks everyone!

that was amazing. people on all floors were coming out to the halls to see what was going on.
yea team 1141, was in a team meeting as well when the cheering started and our whole team ran out and started cheering as well, it was really quite amazing:P and did anyone else see those airplanes that went screaming down the atrium?

Too bad, some team apparently was dropping Water bottles off that floor, and got the elevators basically shut down. Still good times though.
I saw somebody drop one of those plastic parachute men you get in vending machines down the Atrium. It was awesome.
I wanted to throw something out into the atrium (like a superball), but I didn't want to get in trouble, so I didn't. =/
