Just before champs I decided to put together a short video highlighting some of our autonomous successes through out the 2007 season so check it out here. Hope you all enjoy it, feel free to stop by any time and ask us how it works, we should have a pretty decent demonstration together.

See you all at champs!

26 for 30 in qualifying? That is something to beat (just imagine how many 0-0 ties could be broken in less than 10 seconds)

Hehe yeah, no 0-0 ties for us but just clarifying its 26 of 30 in quals and elims.. it may have not been that clear in the movie.

Awesome. I wonder if 87% is the best success rate this year?

Crazy delicious.
All I can say is WOW! That is very impressive. At LA only one keeper was placed in all of competition... one! And you guys placed 26, congrats.
I have one question tho: I couldn't really tell because of the video quality, but did you guys use the camera or dead reckoning to score?
Ps. Nice arm/claw, it looks very solid and well-engineered.

87% after two regionals would be VERY hard to do with dead reckoning. They posted in a thread earlier videos of them fine tuning their cmu cam.

Very impressed.
How important did the keepers end up being in the matches?
ie: how many (if any) matches would have changed in result if you didn't place in autonomous?

We tried several ways, but used the camera, turned out to be dependable. We used it both to align and to tell how far we were.
Dead reckoning can not be used for this year's auto mode dependably.

For Florida I went back through the matches and confirmed we won two matches at least because of the extra ringer. One time it missed in finals if we would have had one more ringer we would have won Florida regional.
So it really made a difference. Plus teams notice you because you are moving and scoring while others are sitting there.
We usually score under 5 seconds.

Well congrats on your robot, it looks excellent.
And that's too bad about florida. Speaking from experience, it's a real bummer when you come so, so close to winning a regional, but don't.

Auton scoring made a huge difference in 648's win-loss ratio... only one match was lost that we placed a keeper in... that happened to be the first one. Good luck to you all here in Atlanta... I really need to get to bed now. I'll drop by 1902's pit, fo' sho'!

no.....look at barry's post two above yours.....it tracks via the camera, and very well I might add maybe not as well as 1369, but I heard they had a decent autonomous mode too :p

Yea, the way 1902 and 1369's robot and similar autonomous modes came out is one crazy coincidence. ;)
