Teams 177, 987, 190 are the 2007 Champs of Rack & Roll. Great job! It was a intense finals, coming down to the final seconds of a third match. A real nail biter. Team 71 the Beatty Beast is going to wait another year for their 5th title. Good job to all of the teams that competed.

Great job! Way to come up from the number 8 seed! ....As I recall it 987 actually seeded ninth in Newton and became 8th alliance captain during the selection process. This illustrates an important idea -- strength and seed are not strongly correlated. 987 was a very strong team that seeded outside the top eight. Luck of the draw had a lot to do with that.

987 also did two things very well: (1) they scouted and picked to complement their own strengths, and (2) they practiced -- a lot. I witnessed some that second part as a volunteer overseeing the Galileo/Newton practice field on Thursday and Friday. When 987 learned that they could get extra practice field time by camping out and waiting for no-shows, they made that part of their preparation strategy. Seems like every time I had a no-show for a scheduled practice time and was looking for a team ready to fill the slot, 987 was right there.

Two lessons: practice makes perfect, and knowledge is power. Congratulation to the winners 987, 190, 177.

A side note: many of us in the Newton stands were really impressed by the solidarity this alliance displayed when they elected to go into battle dressed all in 190 shirts. One alliance, working together, awesome to behold.

Actually, we just happened to pick partners with the same color shirts as us (a fun bonus to getting two awesome partners). If you looked up in the stands, we were one big mass of maroon shirts, all standing up and cheering at the same time.

Man, watching 190/987/177 win the Championship was great. They all performed extremely well and really shined above the rest (but good job to 70, 330, and their other partner). Even though the winning alliance wasn't out of Galileo, it was still a great pleasure to watch.

I'd like to thank, as well, 987 for their help at SVR and also congratulate 190 on their SVR win.

Also, did anybody else notice that the winning alliance was all maroon colored?...

Wow, Richard, your kind words are flattering to say the least. We will take credit for the note regarding the value of using practice field time but can't take credit for some of the other nice things said...we were seeded 33rd I believe and picked by an awesome group (190) as their first pick followed by them picking another great team (177) and it was just a Karma like coincidence that we all are maroon colored teams (a sign?) and symbolic of the awesome teamwork needed to pull off the upsets.

It's too bad about the DQ because you guys were such a fun alliance to play. A few more matches would have been awesome! Teams 190 and 987, I'd like to start by saying thanks a lot for being an awesome alliance. Unfortunately, I couldn't be there because of a band trip. I should have listened to the rest of our team and dropped wind ensemble so I could go to Atlanta.

On a side note, when we heard we won, we were eating dinner before an award ceremony for the competition we were at, when we all started jumping up and down hugging each other yelling "WE WON! WE WON!" I wasn't sure if the people were looking at us because they thought we were a little messed up, or if they thought we had won the competition.

Add my congratulations to 190, 177 and 987. Your strategy, driving skills and teamwork really carried the day against some very formidable opponents. Thanks for demonstrating for everyone what Newtonian physics is all about!

My comments about 987 are based entirely on observing them on the practice field Thursday and Friday, and during the Newton and Einstein eliminations. The assumption that they were #8 A.C. was based on incorrect hearsay from a rookie scout sitting near me in the Newton stands, after I had missed alliance selection to escort some visitors around the event. I had stopped following their qualifying performance just before their last match (which they lost), so I assumed the scout was right about their seed.

Anyway, congratulations again to the whole winning alliance.

The two points in both of those matches were both scored by myself as human player and made the difference. It was extremely tough playing against you guys, given our history, and given your brute domination at scoring, everything could've gone either way.

I (of course) want to thank 190 and 987 for asking us to join their alliance. It might have taken our representative a little longer to accept your invitation, but trust me, we wanted it. The combination of our three teams ended up working perfectly, with two hybrid robots who were both quite good at scoring, and us able to play defense against the biggest threats. We were not the most dominant alliance, and none of us were the best robots in our class, but the ways in which we complemented each other ended up working perfectly for the type of game that our alliance could play.

Congratulations to 71, 233, and 179 on their solid performance throughout the day. It still amazes me how close it was when we played against you, and how lucky we got with some of our last second ramps. Those matches were just too intense, and I was impressed with each of your robots.

173, 1319, 1902 - As always, 177 needed to face RAGE at least once each year during eliminations, and I couldn't be happier that for this year it was on Einstein. I was so happy you guys resolved your control issues from UTC and Boston, and was impressed how well you and 1902 worked together under defense with tubes while 1319 ran some great counter defense against 987. Again, those were such close matches, and congratulations on Galileo.

1124 and 236 - Thank you for the spare batteries you let us borrow after we needed to save the ones that 190 loaned us. We wouldn't have been able to play without them.

Also, George, I noticed that SOAP is also missing a lot of elimination rounds for the divisions. If anyone has these parsed, please contact Greg Marra or I, and we can help you get them online to TBA.

PS: I should mention, being an all maroon alliance was an excellent choice by 190. It gave our alliance a whole new kind of flair with our coordination.

As the base driver of 233, I congratulate that "maroon platoon" (yes, thats a FRC team name...i thought it was funny you all were the same color) on an amazing 3 matches. After an insane war of scoring and defense, it came down to ramps all 3 matches, and our alliance "failed to execute perfectly", as one mentor put it. You succeeded, and took the last two matches for the win. It was a crazy finals, but we couldn't of been beaten by a more resourceful alliance.

QFT. Your amazing human player skills were what really helped carry those squeaker matches, and I cannot express my gratitude to you and your team and 987 for an amazing run! It just goes to show that almost nothing can defeat a well-rounded alliance that plays well together. 177, thank you for being so willing to redistribute weight to make our ramps work to their full potential. Your hard defense also was a tremendous help in staving off other teams out to stop us and 987 from scoring.

987, I'd like to thank you guys for some amazing teamwork and gameplay. For anyone not aware, between semifinal Einstein matches, they had smoked a Globe motor used to raise and lower their arm. You managed to not only completely replace the motor between matches, you managed to perform at the same level of excellence, if not even better, that you had without your automated scoring functions.

71, 179 and 233, it was an honor playing against you. We were honored to play against such powerhouses, and we had a blast. 233, it was amazing playing with you at the Florida regional in '06, and it was even more amazing to play against you on Einstein. Having been on the field with you on both sides, I think it's safe to say that you are an amazing team.

190-I could go on forever about you, but guys are in one word...amazing. You guys were so smart on the field and knew how to win. Your ramps were simply ingenious. You were incredible when you were offensive while being defensive. Thank you so much for picking us.

177- Wow. Your driving skills and smart playing helped us pull out the win. You guys never stopped to impress us drivers with the maneuvers you pulled, like blocking a robot defending us and blocking an opposing robot trying to score at the same time. Thank you.

Congrats to all of the robots that made it to the Championship...that in itself is something to be proud of.

Oh, and by the way, our arm was in hot water three times on Einstein. Our potentiometer controlling the arm up and down was hit after the first semi-final. It was hit again the second semi-final. Then, we smoked the globe motor because I was driving the arm without potentiometer control and the motor was driving past the arm's range of motion. We then replaced the motor. We played a total of three matches on Einstein without the normal control of our arm due to the absence of the arm potentiometer, which we replaced after the first final match on Einstein.

The Number 8 Seed from the division no one thought had a shot.

I ranked Newton as 2nd on my small list of the competition in Atlanta. I put Galileo to win. But Newton came and pulled it out in the end... amazing!!! Shows how much previous competitions may not affect the Championships.

Congrats to the winning alliance - 190, 177, 987.
Congrats to everyone who made it to the Einstein field. Yall did an amazing job to make it that far and should be darn proud.

I'm going through withdrawl already lol. I cannot wait to mentor my team next year and just wait for January :D

No kidding.

It didn't take long for 190, 987, and 177 to kick it into full gear and claim Einstein.

As for the feeling privileged, I'm sure most of 675 did too. We're (after this competition season) an eighth year team and this was the first year we had made it to Atlanta.

On behave of team 115, congratulations to team 190, 177, and 987 on being the 2007 Rack and Roll Champions at the championships!!

It was a great finals to watch... even from the web cast!

Also, it was amazing how you guys all had the same color shirts! That looked cool!.... it must have been planned! :D

2 of the winners were at SVR!
Team 190, you guys were amazing at SVR! Congratulations on your win at SVR! Your ramps were really nice! I could tell you guys were a great team with a great robot at SVR! Our scouts were telling us at SVR that you guys were the best team there… at I guess they were right! (Well, 987 was there too!)

Anyways, good job! Especially coming out from a number 8 seed alliance!

Also, Great job teams 233, 71, and 179 for being great finalist! The pink team was pretty cool! Autonomous scored every time I saw it!

Lastly but definitely not least (actually, most importantly) , congratulations 365, MOE on chairmans!

Grats to 987, 177, and 190! I must say, you guys were absolutely amazing. I couldn't have asked for a more intense set of matches than those last three on Einstein. Well done and well deserved.

Grats are also in order for MOE for an awesome job at spreading FIRST and getting the chairman's award.

Also thanks to 179 and 71 for being awesome alliance partners. Here is my quick rendition of that awesome alliance:
