I ran across a "new" gearbox today that might be useful for the Fisher Price motors. It looks like a 36:1 planetary designed to mate directly with the 550 can motors so it should be a snap to fit to the Fisher Price motors. It has a 1/2" keyed output shaft and looks pretty easy to mount as well. They are ~$94 each but I am wondering about the quality and reliability as compared to the Banebots.

Has anyone seen/used one of these?

Testing would probably have to be done on these. The site says that they are designed for use in 12-15 lb robots, while ours are 100-150 lbs. It wouldn't be ideal for drive. Other than that though, its output shaft speed is in a pretty good range. With a 6" wheel, its freeload speed is 11.4 fps. For an arm or manipulator though it could be implemented.

12-15 pounds would still work for an arm or some other type of a manipulator.
