There is going to be a story about FIRST on NBC Nightly New in a few mins. or tonight.(depending on your location)
Just wanted to past it on.

EDIT: wow that was actually a pretty cool clip. Two nice sound bites from Dean and Woodie, and quite a bit of game footage. I loved two of Kamen's lines: "we're here to teach kids how to do more with their lives than just bounce a ball" and "the goal of FIRST has always been simple; change the culture of the United States" haha

To me that clip was just further proof that it really is GHouse, and the rest of us just live in it

I saw my pit for half a second. And yes, the Nightly News did confirm that thsi is GHouse's world, we just live in it.

Still at work and just reading this announcement means that I didn't see the video. I read the story on the NBC website but I didn't see a like to the video. Is there a link?

While I'm all for "sticking it to the man" and such, this is NBC property, and distributing the content like this doesn't look good on FIRST's part. If you really want to support it, go visit the news link, get some clicks on it, watch the video a lot, and show them that people are more interested in this story than some stupid pet video. It allows them to uphold their copyright, gives them money, and gets them intrested in more FIRST content. :]

So me and my family just saw it... we all flipped cause me and my team made it on there 2 times haha. and my mom freaked when she saw i was shaking hands with Dean Kamen haha. oooo that brings back memories :) Gotta love FIRST!!!!!

I totally agree. I can't stand it when someone takes my stuff and puts it on their website without my knowledge.

HOWEVER, if you would like to host the video on your website shoot an e-mail off to NBC and ask them if you can, explain who you are and what you do, and most importantly, why you want the video on your site! They may actually say yes and give you a better quality video!

I had the same problem. Mozilla won't run any videos that aren't on Youtube, TBA, or in QuickTime format for me.

Yay! Finally robotics is getting some well earned publicity. I saw the back of our team members heads for a very short momemt. We all had blue hair! I like the quote from Dean Kamen but i have to say, we might be bouncing a ball in a few years...just in a different way :P. the news stations here in Hawaii have been great as well covering F.I.R.S.T. as well. Our team has gotten lots of news time and it is causing quite a stir in our community. Yay!

Well, either my computer is messed up of MSNBC is no longer hosting the video. (I got a "This Video is Not available" on the MSNBC Media player) Is it just me, or did they really just stop hosting it?

While I am glad they did this story, it's a shame they did it 3-4 weeks after nationals, so much for timeliness. :rolleyes:

It's interesting, I got home and viewed it again (must have been the school blocking it) but then I close the window on accident and open it again and it says I need to get such and such software in order to view it. I'm all like "What are you talking about?!? I was just watching it 5 seconds ago!?!?" :ahh: :yikes:

Tried it in IE and it worked fine though (Darn you Microsoft! Must you monopolize everything?!?) :mad:

I'd like to save a copy of that video (I'm in it as it turns out; in the half second clip where they show the hand moving the controller... it's my hand :D ). If anyone knows where I might be able to download it without installing any Mac software? :rolleyes:

EDIT: Never mind, I managed to get it working again and downloaded it using my trusty "download helper" extension! ^_^
