How would I make letters out of a set width (for a an 1/8" endmill), in a part.
I want to take a 1/4" thick plate and put writing about 1/32" deep in it.
Thanks

The best way I've found to add text and extrude it is the emboss tool. First make your plate, then do the text on top, then emboss the text. Good luck getting the right font width, though, I have no idea how to do that.
All you have to alter the text for a bit is that after you extrude, find all the corners and fillet them to the bit size. Also make sure no gap is less then the bit can fit through. Hope it helps, bye.

Your CAM software will probably have a better tool for this I'd imagine.
i would have to agree with the post above mine. the cam software we use (edgecam) has a built-in lettering feature and provides you with better options than inventor does.

anyone know if MasterCAM has this feature?

Yup.
Any major CAM program should have such a feature.
