Registration Instructions:

Just go to www.team341.com , then click on the Ramp Riot link on the left side panel. There is no need to send money at this point. We just want to know which teams are attending so that we can plan the best event possible.

PLEASE NOTE: The registration page might temporarily state that it is Ramp Riot 2006. Feel free to use this form anyway. I will receive it. The site will be updated to read 2007 very shortly.

Last year we had 36 teams and sold out in early September, so please register early.

Have a great Summer!

Last night I received an incomplete Ramp Riot registration form from someone on Team 204. There must have been some sort of computer error when completing the online form.
If you are a main contact for Team 204 could you please go to www.team341.com and resubmit the registration? We would be happy to place you on the list.
If you still have problems please contact me directly via

aostrow1@comcast.net

Thanks!

If there is enough interest from the mentors on the teams attending Ramp Riot, I may come down and host a NEMO meeting (pending what my schedule looks like up here...). Last year we held a successful workshop on teambuilding. If you would be interested in attending a NEMO workshop on a particular topic such as mentor recruitment and retention, fundraising, public relations, team organization, etc., let me know.

Since you're first, you have your pick of the jobs. :D
Just email me at aostrow1@comcast.net for now. We would love to have you volunteer at Ramp Riot.
And we would also love to have 102 compete with us this year.

Thanks for volunteering.

Wahooo! I shall do that right now :)
And I have mentioned it to my fellow Gearheads. They gotta talk amongst those students who will be on the team next year; if it was up to me solely, we'd be signed up :p haha. Cannot wait!!

We are pleased to announce that major Radio Station 93.3 WMMR will visit Ramp Riot from 1 PM until 3 PM on November 10th. They will send a street crew to play games (like mini golf) with the crowd. WMMR will also have a prize wheel that they will use to give away tickets, shirts, CDs, and other items during thier visit.

Thank you to WMMR for having the vision to support FIRST robotics!

Hope to see everyone at Ramp Riot 2007!

I cannot wait for Ramp Riot =)
2007 was sooo much fun.
It is kind of disappointing that 102 will not get there :( (or at least, to my knowledge) I was really hoping to continue on with the 102 vs. 87 team spirit "fight" :p lol.
But no fears, as Mr. Ostrow knows, I'm ready to volunteer :D

Hot off the heels of successful NEMO meetings at Bash@theBeach and Duel on the Delaware, NEMO is coming back once again for our 3rd annual workshop at Ramp Riot!

Recent NEMO meetings have included discussions on recruiting and retaining mentors and students, fundraising and getting sponsors, getting media attention for your team, and my personal favorite, DUMPSTER DIVING (aka how to get free stuff for your team!)! :p

So far I've had no responses from teams saying they are sending a mentor... Please share this info with your teams at your next team meeting. If each team sent at least one mentor to the NEMO meeting at Ramp Riot, we could have 35 people exchanging ideas!

If you are an adult or college age mentor who will be attending Ramp Riot and are interested in attending a workshop on a non-technical area, please complete this registration form: http://www.firstnemo.org/rampriotregister.htm

Amanda and Dan,

Last time I spoke with Mr. Ostrow, he said to PM him/send him an email with your name and job you would like. He'll contact you when he gets it.

As to anything outside of that, I do not know what is going on with volunteering but I know Mr. Ostrow will be glad to know he has people wanting to volunteer :)

What is cool to do on an extra day near Ramp Riot area if I end up staying over Saturday night? I'm looking for stuff close-ish (15-20 miles or less away) and that would be fun and open on Sundays. (And if possible, in the general direction of my travel back to CT)
I have no idea the geography of PA other than I know Philadelphia is kinda close?
Anyways... if anyone has any good ideas, let me know.

Elgin:

Center City Philly is 40 minutes in the opposite direction of CT, but definitely worth the trip. One thing I can think of right off hand is that the Art Museum is open on Sunday and if you enter before noon the admission is "pay as you wish". There are also a ton of other things to do in Philly. Definitely check it out.

To All Ramp Riot Supporters:

Ramp Riot Promo in Your Community
Attached is a standard promo sheet for Ramp Riot 2007. Please feel free to circulate this and help us promote this event. Please feel free to use Ramp Riot to your advantage. Many area teams are on the road all year and this is their only home game.

Take this opportunity to invite your sponsors, potential sponsors, school administrators, your students, your families, and your community. One of our goals is to help teams inspire younger kids to get involved. Please feel free to send this circular to your elementary schools, etc.
Lets fill the stands with excited kids!!

Ramp Riot Spirit
Our mission with Ramp Riot is to simulate the feeling of attending a regional, for the benefit of our rookie members. So please feel free to bring all of your banners, displays, spirit items, and buttons. Ramp Riot is about celebrating FIRST and our participating teams, please make this YOUR event!

To All Ramp Riot Teams:

Two notes about honoring Mike Wade and his contributions to FIRST.

1) Ceremony to Honor Mike Wade
We will be holding a special ceremony after the lunch break to honor Mike. We ask that all teams stop what they are doing, make their way to the stands, and participate in this important acknowledgement. He gave so much to FIRST and to the entire circuit of off-season events. It is a sign of respect that we stop everything for Mike.

2) Food Collection and the Mike Wade Memorial Award
We could think of no better way to honor Mike than to name the annual food drive award after him. It will forever be our most important award. Hundreds of families benefit from your food donations. This year's collection will go towards Thanksgiving meals for area families in need.

Please do the following in honor of Mike:
Collect as many canned food items as possible for drop off at Ramp Riot. (We will count these by team for the award.) Cans will be collected in the morning and delivered to the Mattie Dixon Community Cupboard by 2:00PM that day.
Giving to others as Mike gave to us is the best way that we can think of to honor Mike's memory.

We also encourage individual visitors to bring canned goods in the spirit of giving to others.
Thank you for participating.

You could also cut through Jersey on your way back up and find something random to do with teams from Jersey  I mean, it's the same time as going back home for ya... not that I would know lol. Plus, road trips are AMAZING!!!!!

I'm trying to avoid some of the weekend NYC traffic tomorrow and am hoping to leave CT early - does anyone know if it's better to go (from Hartford, CT) 84 to 684 to 87, down the Garden State to NJ Tpke; -or- take I91 south to 95 and stay on it all the way down to 276?

Having done both, I suggest 84 to 684 to 87 to the Turnpike - just my preference personally. Going the other way seems to be more of a headache for me.

I can second that!

Any time that I go to New England from Philly, I make my way up the Garden State Parkway and across the Tappan Zee Bridge.

I'll be hitting the Benjamin Franklin Parkway (http://www.ushistory.org/franklin/philadelphia/parkway.htm) on Sunday before my flight back to Orlando. I've been challenged to culture myself...

Most definately the Tappan Zee is the better of the bridges. Going I-95, you'll have to take the George Washington Bridge, and honestly, it's a mess any time of the day haha.

Hope you have a safe trip down and are ready to RIOT at Ramp Riot tomorrow :)

I was wondering what time volunteers should get there. I know your schedule said 5:30 for 341 team members is this the time you want volunteers to arrive. If so I might be a little late bc I live an hour away.

I can’t wait to see every one there.:yikes:

Thanks you,

Ramp Riot was quite the riot, but a fun one, nevertheless. :)

As for the results of the last off season replay of Rack 'N' Roll:

Alliances: All are not necessarily listed in the correct order that teams were picked, but it's pretty close
1. 1218, 103, 1302
2. 365, 1712, 224
3. 104, 423, 433
4. 623, 87, 341
5. 1640, 539, 222
6. 25, 1403, 834
7. 357, 1030, 522
8. 709, 768, 2234

Each alliance also received a fourth partner. I'm not quite sure who belonged to which alliance, but I remember 173 being a part of the 4th seeded alliance, and 1219 (team 1218's pre-rookie) joining the sixth seeded alliance.

1 vs. 8
2 vs 7
3 vs 6
4 vs 5

8 vs 4
7 vs 6

8 vs 6

365 won the food collection/Mike Wade Memmorial Award, 357 won the Spirit Award, and 1219 won an award whose full name is currently escaping my remembrance. I'm sure Mr. Ostrow will post a more detailed summary.

I'd like to thank our alliance partners once more for a fine run, and commend 1219 for playing some great defense during the semis and finals while 1403 was making repairs to their robot.

As always, it was great to meet new people, and catch up with old friends.

There are so many people to thank for helping us produce Ramp Riot 2007. It really takes so many to pull off an event like this. Here are just a few of the people that helped us make this a day to remember!

Most importantly our team would like to acknowledge MIKE WADE of NASA Goddard SFC for being there for us since 2002. Mike’s passing was a big loss to all of us. We miss his smiling face, his kind words and his unwavering dedication to the betterment of young people.

Its always great to have the Tigertrons at Ramp Riot! You are one of our original 8 teams back in 2000. I will always remember how your former mentor Fred Harding gave us the advice we needed to get Ramp Riot started. We are forever in your debt. Can't wait for PARC 2008!

Team 316 gives a big Thank You to Team 341 for a great day!!! It gets the excitement going for kick off and is a great way to break in the newbies. We appreciate all the hard work!

Because of Ramp Riot's proximity to Kick-off, we think a lot about the rookies that every team brings to the event. We make an effort to give the feeling of an actual FIRST competition. We want the kids to feel the excitement and quite frankly the pressure of being at a regional. At this time of year its really important. Every team is trying to make sure that the rookies they've recruited stay excited and get energized about the coming season. Every year we worry about getting this right and hope that it helps you keep your kids engaged.

Thanks for writing!
