In the end-of-the-year tradition, this week things shift to video:

The deadline for this week's contest is (theoretically) Friday at midnight EDT.

Go!

I have good news and bad news.
The good news is we made weight!
The bad news is we can't make a manipulator.
So that means we're gonna have to poke the tubes onto the rack.

Ah-CHOOOO!

Ah Ah Ah Ah Ahhhhh oh never mind...

(even the robot is feeling the stress of the 6 weeks build)

How does the saying go? "Measure once, cut twice" or "Measure twice, cut once"? Oops.

EddieMcD

"Even the robots are doing the wave in celebration of EddieMcD's year-three Caption Contest victory."

<not entry>And with that self-glorifying pity-point, I win! :D I'd like to thank the academy, any godlike entities that may have helped, any demonic entities to whom I may or may not have sacrificed a few goats to, and all my fans who have been cheering me on all year. And Billfred, your check is in the mail. :p

Also, congrats to Wayne for clinching at least the bronze medal. :) Who will take the third podium position? Three people are within 4 points of each other for that honor. It should be exciting.</not entry>

Robot: "I swear, I can be just like that beer-throwing robot on Letterman! Here, watch...."

Jay H 237

"Who wired this thing? Everytime I try to drive forward the arm goes up!!!"

Mentor: Our manipulator is way behind schedule. Any suggestions on how to get tubes on using this?
Student: TREBUCHET!!!

"OK, now make it wave bye-bye..."

Even if the robot isn't successful in FRC events, it will win countless stuffed animals playing Hi-Striker (http://www.clownsunlimited.com/view_product.php/1/1152) on its summer carnival and fair tour. How do you think Koko Ed got the one on his head?

The students had no idea how smart their robot really was. As the freshmen asked questions, it raised its hand to answer. Unfortunately, everyone thought it was just a faulty autonomous.

Ok which noob are we shipping with the robot to finish the arm?:yikes:

EricS-Team180

Well coach, even if we can't make an end effector in time, it'll still be one heck of a double barreled spud gun!

Wayne Doenges

AndyMark introduces their new line of fishing products with the unveiling of "My Little Fishing Buddy". In this video clip we see Buddy set the hook and than going through the motions of reeling in the fish.

You can't fool me, this is a pilot for a new robot exercise video.

Unbeknownst to the mentor in the chair, the students on FRC 1618 decided that their summer project would be to dispel the myth that "Safety Glasses Aren't Forehead Protectors"... by proving that they can, indeed, be used for this purpose!

TV Commercial-

This week on G4TV’s (TechTV) reality TV series “Pimp My Bot,”

Team 1618-Capital Robotics gets pimped for the Low-Rider
Dance hydraulic competition and Billred argues over the spinner wheel covers with the dayglow paint.

We might not be able to score tubes, but we can sure do the "Tomahawk Chop". :yikes:

Billfred

No, I haven't forgotten about the contest. It just so happens that this year the big end-of-the-year contest happened on the busiest weekend here at camp. I could do a weaksauce post, but I want to do it justice; it'll be up in the next 24 hours.

Andy Baker

OK, let's run the "flip the booger off the arm" automode.
