The bus is getting packed (and I mean packed) tonight. We have to include Chuck, his 'med kit', and a few people along with some books. (No, we're not going to outdo last year.)

The local libraries were 'booked-out', so we went to the Wyoming Valley area and tapped the Back Mountain Memorial Library for some help. We do have a small contribution...nowhere near last year's record breaker.

We're takinng off at 3:30 AM on Saturday and we'll be ready to DUEL.

Uh...folks, I may have lied yesterday when I posted...

We have a few more books than I thought. No, we're not outdoing last year. That's for sure! But we may do a ton. I'm going on volume alone, not weight. My team members have been very busy getting donations!

The playing field has been up since 9:30am this morning. Scoring system and electronics have been checked. Team banners and team number carpet tiles are in place. Sound system is loud. Concessions are snuggled all nice in their stand. Tubes are inflated.

The Duel is ready for action.

CU Tomorrow!

First, here's to all the volunteers and teams 365 & 316 for hosting such a fun and smoothly ran event!

For many of our freshmen, the Duel was their first FIRST event, and I'm pretty sure that they're hooked.

A big thanks to all teams for some great matches - the semifinals were particularly exciting!

It was also great to finally have been able to play with 375, 708, and 836, whereas we had previously always been on opposing alliances at the NJ Regional.

The rack remained stationary throughout the day (except for when a pileup of robots moved it significantly during eliminations and it had to be rotated back to its standard position), so although there was no new autonomous incentive, there was an increase in the number of keepers scored during the competition. [Although we still got lucky a couple times when our keeper flipped down from the middle row and landed on the bottom spider (http://photos-a.ak.facebook.com/photos-ak-sf2p/v142/174/23/506014043/n506014043_135124_6876.jpg). (Photo courtesy of dhoizner)] ;)

For those unable to attend, the alliances were:
1. 836, 375, 1727
2. 222, 1712, 708
3. 25, 365, 1719
4. 768, 341, 316
5. 1647, 357, 555
6. 423, 75, 816
7. 84, 87, 709
8. 1089, 1640, 539

Results:
8 beats 1
5 beats 4
2 beats 7
3 beats 6

5 beats 8
3 beats 2

5 beats 3

As always, it was great to catch up with old friends and make new ones.

Hope to see all of you again at Brunswick Eruption/Ramp Riot!

Thanks to all who 'Did the Duel', be it planning, volunteering, or attending. Chuck and his team had a great time!

We were thrilled with the new hardware we took home! We were honestly surprised!!! (We knew we had a bunch of books, but didn't realize the weight of them all.)

Thanks to our alliance partners, 87 and 709. It was fun!

See y'all next year...

Team 708 would also like to thank teams 365 and 316 for doing a fantastic job putting this event together. It was our first year attending the Duel, and we had a great time! Thanks 222 and 1712 for picking us for your excellent alliance.

We had a great time at Duel! I would like to thank all the people who put the time into putting on the Duel. We know how hard you all work. I would also like to thank our alliance partners 1712 and 708. You guys complimented us and our strategy well and we fought hard in the eliminations. Hope to see you guys at Brunswick Eruption and Ramp Riot! Hopefully you'll see a sneak peek at the new direction team 222 is trying to move in robot building.

I have a few videos of matches from Duel on the Delaware. They're only matches with 25 in them, though.

First Match o' the Day (http://youtube.com/watch?v=eyjLnlK65-E)
Semifinals (http://youtube.com/watch?v=ldNmGd8RofA)
Finals 1 (http://youtube.com/watch?v=52pzCC6C6gY)
Finals 3 (http://youtube.com/watch?v=3B8i6yWr8Us)

My apologies for not having more videos, but I kept forgetting to set up my camera before the match started.

First, I posted a bunch of pictures from the Duel that one of our talented mentors took. I didn't have time to caption most of them so please add captions where you can. There are a lot taken of other teams - please identify them.

There were several items found when we cleaned up at then end. There is a large yellow and black striped flag and pole (I can probably take a good guess what team this is). If you send me a note we can make arrangements to get it back to you.

There was also a memory stick and assorted clothing items. Again, send me a note if you wish to claim something.

This was a great off-season event. I had a chance to meet up with some good friends, had a great NEMO meeting and learn alot from it, and lastly saw some great robotic competition.

Good Luck and hope to see you around the FIRST regionals.
