The Nov. 16 issue of Science, a prestigious magazine published by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), is a special issue on robotics (http://www.sciencemag.org/sciext/robotics/). A recognizable FRC robot (especially if you happen to be from the UK) is shown in a photograph on the first page of the table of contents. A news article entitled "Robots' Allure: Can It Remedy What Ails Computer Science?" (Benjamin Lester, Science 2007 318 (5853), p. 1086), describes the impact of robotics programs such as FIRST and BotBall in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education in schools. There is also an MP3 podcast (http://www.sciencemag.org/sciext/robotics/#section_podcast) involving several of the special articles, including one on the DARPA Urban Challenge.
