I'm just excited get there and back without getting lost. The mentor driving us missed the exit a couple years ago by an HOUR. I can't wait to miss six weeks worth of sleep, its overrated anyway. These hints have me thouroughly bamboozeled about what the game could possibly be.

Excited? Of course.

It's just a little bittersweet since it signifies the end of Winter Break and moving back into a more hectic, yet structured school-like environment.

I'm kind of sad about tomorrow, I guess I officially become a mentor and not a student. I'll miss it, but hey, it will still be fun to help the students build a robot!:]

Alright, just for kicks, based on the clues, I'm going to post my final prediction.

There will be one large tetrahedron shaped object that will give substantial bonus points to whichever alliance has it on their special place at the end of the match.

Autonomous mode will be in the beginning again.

There will be 4 goals. These goals will have changing red and blue lights indicating which alliance hey count for. Lights will change by time periods, or by robots sending signals to them.

Game Pieces will fit over the goals, not into them.

Other than the large bonus tetra, there will be 3 ways to score. Getting the game piece onto the goal, getting the game piece into a certain area, or positioning your robot on top of a field element at the end of the match.

There will be a slight incline slippery ramp with a sharp vertex located midfield.

One, two, or three pipes will be used in the field's construction.

I have actually enjoyed FIRST significantly more since graduation. You'll see.

Let the stress fest begin.

Bad news: I will sadly not be making it to the local kick-off in Novi due to a very late family gathering for XMAS out in KZoo... (first time in 3 years... grr)

That said, I will probably be thinking about the game tomorrow night when I get home.

Otherwise, I go into build season with very few pre-kickoff conclusions as to what the game will be, just interpretations of the three hints.

Good Luck to everyone, and may it be a great season for all!

All the people who quit FIRST.

Who could ever quit FIRST?

I dunno, T-7:45 till kick-off, I don't know if I'm getting to bed or not! If I do, I may sleep through kick-off, although, if I don't I still may sleep through kick-off AND I probably won't get my scoring spreadsheet done. That's right, I hope to have my scoring spreadsheet posted within the next 21 1/2 hours!

I am exited in a way the the Terms of Service of this website will not allow me to express.

I mean, I should really be asleep now, but... This is my first FIRST (I wonder how many times that pun's been used...) and well... Who hasn't wanted to build a robot since they were five?

Which means now I have to decide between getting NO sleep tonight, or getting 3 hours of cruddy sleep and feeling like... you know... In the morning...

Regardless, good luck to all... I'm going to be spending the next six weeks pretending I have an idea as to what I'm doing... And I'm in charge of half the robot, so you guys know where we're going to place...

Why am I still typing? Really, this post should have ended ages ago... I'm hyper and sleepy at the same time... A destructive combination...

Goodnight.

I swear SCHOOL goes by faster than the time it takes waiting for kickoff...

I had an easier time sleeping on Christmas eve...

I'm spending my time visiting every single page on the internet. So far I'm up to aaaaaaaaaabx.com

Its a difficult challenge, but someone must do it.

It's currently 4:46 AM EST (I woke up and can't sleep, I'm so excited) and I'm just waiting for it to be time to head over to my school then head for kickoff!

I CAN NOT WAIT!!!!!

Man....I've been waiting for like...what? 6-7 months?

shoot, it was a long wait, but DANG!!!! :ahh:

We're allready here!!!!!!!

GAHH!!!!!!!

YAYYYY!!!!!!

OH NOOOOOOO!!!!!

YAHHOOOOO!!!!

So many expressions for this wonderful moment about to come again!

Alas, the wait has finished. Behold the new challenge of 2008! :D

BTW,
To express my excitment I take the lyrics from Wierd Al's (my favorite):
"I can't wait no, (no I) I can't wait (oh when)
When they gonna open up that door?

I'm goin' (yes I'm) goin', I'm a-goin' to the
Goin' to the (hard) ware I'm goin', really goin' to the
Goin' (hard) I'm goin' to the (hard) oh yes, I'm goin' to the -"

I can't sleep either its 2 in the morning PST and I need to get up in 4 hours for the webstream and the worst part is my Internet connection is out so here I am on the iPhone with surprisingly fast edge speeds compared to what I get in the day. Alright wish me luck as I attempt to sleep for the 20th time.

Tach'ko

Bomber-Dude, you are my new best friend.

Just kidding.

Maybe.

In about 15 minutes, I stop pretending I'm asleep, and get ready to get ready to go to the train to go to the place where I'll wait some more to wait for them to announce that they're going to announce the stuff and then I'll have to wait even more while they talk about things I'll probably sleep through and end up missing kickoff becuase of all this waiting!

The flow of time before kickoff can be expressed as f(x)=1/x, where x is the amount of time in minutes after 24 hours before kickoff, and f(x) is the amount of time that passes relative to one normal minute. As the day before kickoff continues, and x increases, f(x) decreases, but has a limit as f(x) approaches infinity, of zero, so that while time never stops, 25 hours and 59 minutes after the day before kickoff begins, the ratio of real time to percieved time is 1:7.5*10^-4.

That was fifteen minutes well spent.

Your sig makes me laugh. And forget words. My brain feels... Dead...

Okay, goodbye internet and internet people! I am off to do those things I mentioned... As soon as I put "Hardware Store" on my phone.

Its weird, though. I mean, what happens in the next few hours will completely dictate the focus of our interest for the next few months. Huh.

Alright. Good luck everybody!

Im pretty excited on behalf of myself and my team...about 3-4 months ago, our coach didn't even think we would be capable of competing in the 08 season, and about 7-8 months ago, FIRST didn't even exist in any of our lives
here we are, 2 months after brunswick eruption, ready to embark on our own journey...
team 2554 is attending the NJ kikcoff at NJIT

Only 2 and a half hours to kickoff.

Last night I had a dream about skating robots, and pushing boxes, so... crossing my fingers for that.

Leav
05-01-2008, 07:32
I had a dream too!
I dreamed about a rectangular shape in the middle of the field with 3 ramps on each side, each the size of a single robot....

I guess they wouldn't do that though because of the risk of falling...

you guys got it easy! it's 10 am for you so you only get up 5 hours before if your really excited...

by the time the kickoff will start Ive been up for 12 hours!!!! my heart beat is in the Khz range!!! :ahh:

Yes, it is true, I woke up early just to post in this thread. I went to bed and saw it before I shut my laptop...it kept me up for another hour just thinking of the robo goodness.

10 am....I wish....its 4:30 over here right now......
