crossing and hurtling

In order for a trackball to be scored again, is the only thing it has to do is cross the opposing alliances finish line? Is there any rule defining where the robot must be if it is in contact with the track ball when this happens?

Also, when a ball is hurtled over the overpass, does it have to become airborne or could a robot extend an arm over the overpass while in possession of the trackball and then place the trackball on the ground on the other side and then release it?

it is my interpretation of the rules that a ball crossing a finish line is completely indepentdant of whatever robot action is going on. even if the ball independantly crosses the finish line, it still counts

<G10> Each TRACKBALL that has CROSSED its own FINISH LINE while not in contact with a ROBOT of the same ALLIANCE will earn 2 points. A TRACKBALL that has CROSSED itsown FINISH LINE which contacts ROBOTS of both ALLIANCES while CROSSING will earn 2 points.

-AndrewThe definition of hurdled says it has to touch the ground or another robot after crossing but before RE-contacting your robot. I think that implies that you've released the ball before it crosses. It's not in the rules if you're being 100% lawyerly-literal about them, but I'm pretty sure the point it the you're given up control of the trackball in order to hurdle it.

I don't think the robot can be in contact with the trackball when it crosses the finish line, even if you hurdle it. In <G11> scoring for a hurdled trackball is 2pts. for crossing the finish line and 6 pts. for hurdling. And in <G10>, each trackball not in contact with a robot of the same alliance will earn 2 pts.
I don't know, that is just the way I interpretted the rules.

HURDLE: When a TRACKBALL CROSSES a FINISH LINE while passing above the OVERPASS and then contacts either the floor or another ROBOT before re-contacting the originating ROBOT.
HURDLING: The act of completing a HURDLE. To be considered in the process of HURDLING, the ROBOT must:
• be in its own HOME STRETCH, and
• be in POSSESSION of a TRACKBALL, and
• be moving toward the OVERPASS and/or elevating the TRACKBALL so that the top of the TRACKBALL is higher than the LANE DIVIDER.

A TRACKBALL that has CROSSED its own FINISH LINE must CROSS the opponent’s FINISH LINE before it can score by CROSSING its own FINISH LINE again.

The ball has to leave your possession and cross the opponents finish line before it can score for you again.

What if you have an arm that reaches up, passes the trackball over your finish line, pulled it back, then you drop the ball so that you are no longer in contact with it behind you and regain possession, Drive around and over the opposing alliances finish line and then repeat?
