I'm not going to comment specifically, because I have some inside information that *may* pertain to this; all I am going to say is this: if my hunch is right, this one will be quite fun to watch.

you guys are all wrong (keep note of the sarcasm because i dont know if you are or not)
The lamp is a heat source. They are going to have an extremely hot lamp like manipulator and heat up the atmosphere around the ball. The ball would then eventually float if it is cooler than its surroundings by a certain degree. The ball will then get nudged a little and create a projectile out of the ball. The ball will fly over the overpass for the hurdle. And it will be glorious...
Seriously, I think its that they are going over the ball with the manipulator with a 2 jointed arm.

You're outsourcing your animation to your new sponsor, Pixar?
I don't think old people will pass the inspection.... and its mean to make them do your dirty work :[

i am guessing pixar is sponsering them and they want the team to use an old robot with an arm that is similar to the pixar lamp.
Nope, Pixar does not sponsor us. I wish they did, but I think they would be a hard sponsor to get.
4 bar linkage, all!
