<G10> Each TRACKBALL that has CROSSED its own FINISH LINE while not in contact with a ROBOT of the same ALLIANCE will earn 2 points. A TRACKBALL that has CROSSED its own FINISH LINE which contacts ROBOTS of both ALLIANCES while CROSSING will earn 2 points.(emphasis mine)
You will still get the robot points, but why settle for two points when you can have four?

The robot crossing the finish line counts for 2 points, while the trackball crossing the finish line counts for two points separately. If you can do both -- driving the robot to the line, releasing the trackball across the line, and then driving the robot across the line, you'll score 4 points.

<G06> During the TELEOPERATED PERIOD, a ROBOT will earn 2 points each time it CROSSES
its FINISH LINE.

Wait I don't understand, how can you get 4 points? 2 for the robot and 2 for the ball. Possessing the ball takes away 2 unless you are hurdling. See Section 7.3.3 for scoring details.
