Hi, I'm very familiar with the C programming language, but not familiar as to how it is used for FRC. Can anyone recommend the first steps that I should take to learning the libraries written for FRC? I know that there are the Kevin repositories. Is this the best place to start or is there a manual that has a listing of the libraries? I'm used to started a program from scratch...like programming a pic or rabbit microcontroller, but I would like to work off the shoulders of giants so that I dont need to reinvent the wheel.

This guide basically explains all of the things that someone would need to get started. Here (http://www.ifirobotics.com/docs/legacy/2004-programming-reference-guide-12-apr-2004.pdf)

I also found that Team 1540 has a nice guide.Here (http://www.team1540.org/programming-guide.html)
(It also has a link to the one above...)

Let's hope this helps.

You may want to check out easyC or WPILIB as they both have drivers ready to go. This allows you to focus just on the problem at hand and not getting an encoder or ultra sonic sensor to work. Also, easyC has a online window that helps you map your ports on your robot.

Thank you very much Carter and King...hey that sounds like a law firm like Caufield and Bryers (sp?)! Ohh by the way king...what do you mean by "map the ports"?

Thanks!

When your in the online window you can see real time sensors, motors, etc.. You can leave comments to remind you what pin out is connected to. So when you go to write your code all your comments show up in drop down menus. For example you put a motor in when you select the drop menu to choose what pin number you see your comments. I highly recommend use the online window it eliminates hardware issues in trouble shooting.
