High folks,

I'm hoping some of you will have crate designs you'd be willing to share.

We are trying to use our crate in the pit as well, but all designs would be great.

There ought to be a resource for info like this; is there?

Have you not started on your crate yet? If that is the case, just build a simple crate because you have under 2 weeks to build it now, and it would be unrealistic to build a fancy one. Use a simple crate this year, and build a nice crate over the summer to use next year.

Hi!!!
Hope your build is going well!!
Here is a drawing of our crate. It works pretty well.
It is basically a 3 X 4 box and a 1 X 4 box (68" tall + 4 X 4 pieces at the bottom) that is hinged along one side.

Let me know if you have any questions...

thanks

FIRST Senior Mentor call on Monday, Feb 11 on building crates and shipping:
With only 7 days left, "Building the Crate; Shipping the Robot" will cover key points regarding tips & compliance in building and maintaining a serviceable robot crate. "Shipping the Robot" will include reminders of those key changes to the FedEx Freight System Complimentary shipping program process and procedures for 2008 and may be enlightening and helpful to forestall any last minute problems meeting the ship-date requirements.

It would be cool if your crate was a robotic crate that assembled and disassembled itself. =P

Thank you all very much. Very helpful and entertaining responses.

If there are more designs out there please send them my way.

I am a carpenter so our crate will no doubt be more than what Laaba 80 suggests, but less than what Coffeeism suggests.

If I remember, I'll come back and post a picture when it's done.

Good luck, but dont start anything you dont think you can finish. If you dont ship the robot on ship day you are out of luck and cant compete. If you think you can make a fancy one go for it, just keep an eye on the time.

It would be really cool if your crate could transform into your robot for competition.
