That depends, what do you want to use it for?

Guess what?<R71> Ribbon cable smaller than 24 AWG may be used to connect signal lines to the 9-pin ports on the Robot Controller.That does appear to be the only place you can use it, though.

It has to be 24AWG or larger (unless going into the serial ports as Eric mentioned above); if it meets that requirement, it is legal. BTW, the answer to this question and many others can be found (probably faster too) in the robot section of the manual.
