How well do those small cylinders lift the ball? They just look a bit punnie in comparison to the 2'' monsters on the launcher. We tried one 1.5'' by 10'' cylinder mounted in the center ( with mixed results).

I think you mean 1726. 342 also took this approach, but we are waiting for our shiny decals before we post pics.

Question: We all seem to be using pneumatics for our forks to pick up the ball. We tried to use one 1.5" piston in the center, but we are having a hard time finding the right geometry. Any tips?

yeah, put the cylinder on the side! and leave as much room as possible for the ball

We've got a 1.5" bore, 8" stroke moving the lifter; works beautifully. Here's a fairly crummy picture of the geometry we're using, hopefully it helps. Good luck!

were using tiny pistons, they work great for us. Unfortunately i can not share their sizes or angles

Yeah, having two small bore pistons would be the best way to go, so you don't have to deal with all that torque trying to tear the lifting arm apart.

Is the torque why you are using the ABS tube on your lifter for? To min the effect of the torque?

MrForbes

That's right.

Hmmm....there are 3 twins in my household: me, and my twin sons.

Maybe it's like that?

NICE!

A sample scoop and launch system!
It looks like low maintenance and trouble free layout.

Can't wait to see it in action.

I'm pretty disappointed about the conspicuous absence of camo on your bumpers, but I'm glad to see the return of the tennis balls. See you at Pittsburgh.

When we had the camo on we were getting complaints that the referees thought we were levitating, because the bottom of the robot was blending in with the carpet, so we went with something that stands out :)

Out of curiosity, what is the metal you have fastened to your bumpers? I'm not sure that it is legal.

Regulation angle iron, as specified in the robot rules

i am really interested to see the launchers this year, even though i think the better robots might be the arms. That's just my opinion, but the launchers look crazy awesome this year
