Fondy Fire --

Here's the link to the video of Fondy Fire's expandable chassis.

Expandable Chassis (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V3Ub-EVlZig)
The chassis expands so that the ball is able to be picked up by our "fork lift" design.

--Sliders = Anodized - Able to extend over 12"

Would you be switching back and forth mid match?

Would you be switching back and forth mid match?

Yes, we will be able to switch using our BACK or START button on our Xbox 360 Controller. I'm posting pictures on our website right now on how it's done!

btw One might think that with the sliders, the robot might sway down, but with the anodized sliders, and having enough extra inside the base, there is no lowering of the center mass.

I tried to watch the video but it didn't work for me. How long does it take to fully expand?

According to the video, it takes about 9 seconds, but, we are able to drive in both modes and in between at the disadvantage that it is harder to pick up the ball in the original form.

Another sweet looking robot from you guys. Hopefully we'll find ourselves on the same side of a finals match this time instead of across the arena.

I can't to see it when you visit us here in MN.

I pitched the expanding chassis idea to 190 during brainstorming, but they didn't think it was quite crazy enough....

Anyways, that is pretty sweet. but how strong is it when its fully extended?

What are you using to expand - a ball screw?

What are you using to expand - a ball screw?

We are using the Globe Motor 12Vdc w/ Drive Assembly, connected to the lead screw/nut (reinforced) assembly.

When the robot is fully extended, the middle base doesn't "sway" down AT ALL. aka. Really Sturdy

Sweet robot, nice idea, just wondering how many balls you guys get over in one round. Another thing do you guys just expand once a match or go in between the modes?
