Hello, I have sold my company which has nothing to do with bots but I do have a few hundred DeWalt 3 speed gearboxes #397892-05. They are brand new in factory boxes. I will sell one at a time or will sell them all. I am asking $15 a piece if you are buying one. I will discount for qty's.
Thanks for your time.

Is this just the gearbox? Does it include the magnesium housing and yellow casing? I don't think you can make much use of just the gearbox without the housing, unless you want to do a lot more design and machining. The gearbox itself doesn't have any sort of output shaft, just a "D" shaped hole in the last planetary gear stage.

Here are the pictures that Happyman sent me by email. These are just the gearboxes, so if you were trying to do something with them per the NBD paper, you would need to buy the magnesium housing and yellow casing separately.

Hey - team 619 is interested in several of the gearboxes. Can you email a picture to jmp@piplo.com? We would most likely want 6 or 8. Thanks!

Hi All,
I just wanted to let you know that Team 57 "The Leopards" ordered some of the gearboxes. They were exactly what we needed in new boxes and were shipped on time. I received them today. Wayne did a good job.

I got my order today, exactly as advertised (and thanks richardmcc2 for the photos and description).
Teams expecting to use these will find that they need...
1. An input pinion
2. An output shaft
3. A housing with which to manage the gear shifting system
None are insurmountable, or even difficult (unless you try to make them by hand...), but just be aware that there is some work necessary. The paper "Nothing but DeWalts" (in the CD Media whitepaper section) covers this thoroughly.
Still a bargain at twice the price.

About $70 for the FP and Globe motors, a bit less for CIMs, if you follow the whitepaper. You save about $15 over buying all the parts including the transmission. It can be done cheaper too, especially if you use the pinions from an extra transmission as the input gear (same size) and make your own output shaft.
What is the OD of the assembly shown? The part just above the black speed ring is about 2.0 inches in diameter.

Hello Teams, I want to thank all of you that have purchased transmissions from me. I have a retailer who has offered me alot of money to buy out what I have left. I told him today that I would check my inventory and call him on Monday. I would much rather sell to you guys so you can keep your cost down, but I can't pass this up. If you want some please e-mail this weekend so I can take them out of my inventory before he buys them all. All transmissions will need to be paid for by Monday morning.
Thanks to all

Team 418 bought 2 transmissions from Wayne, and they arrived almost faster than he could have hand-delivered them. If you currently use DeWalt transmissions on your robot, it is definitely worth the money to buy some extras for spares!

I believe people take one the planet gears to use as a pinion.

According to the "NBD" (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/papers/1592) White paper, they may be obtained from the first stage of the transmissions when they are removed for use with a CIM motor. For $15, buying and extra transmission is cheap! Or you could buy a few. Use two for your CIMs, then you will have 8 pinions for other motor, four from each tranny.

Wow that was fast, thanks. One question when they came they had fallen apart (not too hard to put back togeather), as I was reassemabling I found this one pin unlike all the others that was about 1/4in long with a small nib on the top, anyone know where this goes?

Sounds like one of the anti-back drive pins. If you don't want anti-backdrive, you need to take them out anyways.

Ok wife says all that "stuff" must get out of our garage!!! Good news for you guys. Still have several boxes of transmissions. Plus several boxes of motors that are not allowed by FIRST. All these are discounted and will work a hell of a deal if you want it all. A team could buy them and sell them to make money for thier team.... Fundraising idea!?!
Thanks to everyone
