PARC XI will be web cast again this year, at http://asp.shinraikon.com/parcxi.aspx
I have also included pages for Match Results, Rank, Photos, etc. Let me know what you think of the pages and if there is any other features that you may like to see.

PARC was fantastic last year. Although I wasn't able to enjoy the full ride of it, I still think it is one of the best off seasons to go to right after the season is over. This is great for teams who especially cannot go to Atlanta. Cliff and his gang have been doing this for years and it gets better every year. I can't wait to go back again this year.

Glad to hear team 25 will be joining us. Wayne, what browser are you using? I know we've had problems with firefox in the past, but I just tried to register on an older version of firefox and it seemed like it worked. Anyway rest assured 25 is registered. Anybody else having trouble registering just let me know via PM or some other method. Thanks.

I'm not registering yet, but I'm thinking the new team wants to be there. We've gotta see what funds will say. We're trying to do Championships next year.

If not, I want to volunteer, if somebody is rolling through here. Money for gas compensation will be offered.

Personally, I'd like to see the return of the minigames. I know you used to have games between lunch and elims before. I think we could get a couple good ones with this game.

Wayne we haven't finalized plans yet for PARC. We've spent the last week scrambling to get funding for Atlanta. I just had to throw the mentor match out there.....I mean when else do you get free admission to FIRST, battle bots, a demolition derby, and a NASCAR race all all at once!? ;)

Unfortunately, neither team 964 or NWL Robotics will be able joining you for this event, as much as we're interested in going. Because of the new team's history with the old team we may not even have a robot, logistics and hotel accomodations aren't looking to work out, I have no clue how many people even want to go, gotta work out other miscellaneous details, etc.

I may make a personal appearance, though. This time I'll plan further ahead than I tried for Championships.

camtunkpa
22-04-2008, 08:29

EDIT: Just a question: how many of you guys change drivers for off seasons? I'm well aware that most teams use off seasons to train drivers but who here isnt doing that? I for one know our performance won't be the same as it was in Atlanta with some of the Juniors driving. lol...It may not be a pretty site.

you drive and drive until you see the end of the Earth and then make a left- just watch out for the deer in the road. Be sure to leave a will.

Honestly- 3 - 3 1/2 hrs or so

Make sure you also take the right to stay on Route 309 or else you are going to drive around Harveys Lake (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Harveys+Lake,+PA,+USA&ie=UTF8&ll=41.374876,-76.046848&spn=0.077933,0.111237&z=13&iwloc=addr) for what seems like forever. :ahh: I did that one night years ago and this was the conversation I had to have the next day:

Dave (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/member.php?u=453) "How was your drive up?"
Me: "I got lost and ended up driving all the way around some huge lake"
Dave :P laughing:P : "Ha Ha, you didn't bear right on 309. Everyone does that!"

Team 270 is so excited for the event, we cant wait to come.

We wanted to know if people would like to put up some information about their robots that are comming so we can get our scouting done before the event even starts.

Here are some specs on our robot:
Can hurdle
~8ft/sec
1 line in autonomous mode using hybrid remote
4 wheel tank drive
can knock ball off the over pass

Any information from any other team will help.
Thanks, Team 270:D

Good idea:) I know we won't have any sort of scout team available for off seasons this year as well.

Robot Specs:
Hurdle 4-5 consistently
Mecanum drive
up to 3 lines in hybrid
NJ regional finalists
Chesapeake regional champions
Archimedes #1 seed- semifinalists

Do keep in mind that we always use new drivers for off season events though

Hope that's useful :)
See you guys there!

EDIT: I will try to remember to bring our scouting data from NJ, Chesapeake, and Atlanta for anyone who wants to look at it. A lot of the teams here were present at those events so I will compile a team list once the final list for PARC is out.. Feel free to drop by our pit and just ask for Akash or to look at the scouting sheets :)

Do to a filter I was unable to take part in the the mebo chat until after 8pm.
Its up and running(when the servers are turned back on in the morning) for tomorrows event. :D

Also we have found out how to increase the bitrate of the web cast, so the quality will be better. 756Kbps so far seems to be the highest we can go before DSL(1MBps) seem to either lag or completly freeze. If this happens just restart the player/refresh the page on the embedded player.
:D

I will try to have the servers up and running by 7:30-8:00am

Thank you 1640 and 222 for picking my 145 (my drive team), I think our matches where the best =). Also thank you 365 and 25 for taking our Ish (1452) to win PARC XI. That's the seconds time we have been on the same alliance this year.

On behalf of Team 341 we wanted to thank Scott, the Tigertrons and all of the organizers of PARC. Even though we had a rough day on the field, we had a great time.

PARC is so important to us. It is the first time our rookies really get to learn how to run the team by themselves. The experience is priceless. We lost a lot of matches but you would never know from all of the fun they had.

Thanks for all of your efforts to keep PARC going.

You can count on us being at PARC 12.

We got some robot eye footage from PARC, we hooked a camera up to our 2nd robot, once it's uploaded to our site i will send a link.

Also i would like to thank 222 for helping use with the biggest upset at PARC this year. If i may say so. 2 V 3 was hard. But thought a good strategy we pulled though.

This was so much fun! Thanks to all the organizers and volunteers for everything. I was wondering- who won the raffle for the TIGER wall hanging?

:D

I was getting a bit cross-eyed editing the awards page, sql data base(will provide an asp view of this later), match results, uploading more photos, etc.

I will try to get the servers running in the next day or so, so for now the site is down untill than

The servers are back up and running and I have corrected the champions/Finalist mix up. :D

I will try to seperate the video into matches when I get the time.

It was awesome to watch as well. 1218 was great out there, I've been rooting for them since I saw them in Chesapeake. It would have been even more intense if 25 and 365 decided to form separate alliances though. Now that would have been crazy to watch: both putting up crazy hurdles against each other. I was a little disappointed in 341's performance, but I think it was just new drivers. On that note, much kudos to all the teams that actually use different drivers, I wish I was there to try out our robot. =/

Please sign us up now for next year.:D

How was the webcast? We found out how to increase the bitrate from last years 350kbps to 756kbps, we tried higher (1.5Mbps and 4Mbps) stream rates on Friday, but while the quality was extremely good :D , the only ones that could reliably view it without either freezing, or being jumpy were those with high speed internet such as cable or dedicated lines such as T1 etc.

Also for those that viewed the webcast, did you prefer the external player or the embedded player with meebo chat? :D

I opened the stream in VLC. It was nice. I heard other people had it buffering every like 20-30 seconds, but mine was great!:)

Thanks to Scott, Cliff, Frank, Team 222, and all the volunteers for another successful PARC event! PARC was the first off-season event MOE ever went to back in 2000 and it has had a big influence on many other off-seasons, including the Duel on the Delaware event MOE holds with Team 316.

All the teams did a great job and made for a fun day. Special thanks to Teams 25 and 145-2 for a fantastic alliance. Also, congrats to all award winners and the finalist alliance (433, 1218, 1143), who played some great matches.

I also give credit to the two alliances who played four matches to decide who was going to the finals. It was exhausting for us to watch. I'm sure it was tougher and more intense for you to play.

Team 145 - I would love to see any photos, video of the camera you mounted on the 145-2 bot.

Thanks also for the webcast and recorded match scores! Great job.

I hope everyone has a great summer!

I had an awesome time at PARC. Thanks again Scott for finally allowing me to reach that goal of becoming an anouncer... I hope to someday be able to do that at a Regional. What did everyone think? Did I do the job well?

Also, a great big thanks to the guys from The Cruzin' Comets for making my day a bit more random with all the notes.

Thank You for everything this year, you guys not only let us use your air cylinder at FLR, but you picked us for alliance partners there also. Then at PARC you and 25 took our little laptbot, that we modded for PARC 2 days before PARC, to become champs.

Also thanks for enjoying the fight we put up in the eliminations. We could of went onto the finals but the pneumatics in the bot that replaced 1640 blew. But, our driver, and I where dead tired. I have to say that was the most fun I had in any competition. The quarters where my fav still, P&G power baby =p.

Thanks 222 to sticking in there when it got rough.

I will get a link up for the Ish-cam when it is uploaded by the mentor who put his camera on the line.

I'm a little late, but none the less, thanks to all the volunteers that helped us out! Another huge thanks to all the teams at PARC! All the teams were very gracious and professional! I know there were many times teams had back to back matches, but everyone kept their cool when they were in the heat of battle! Good luck to everyone in the post season!

Thanks 222, 871 had a great time at PARC. Our rookies students were happy to get a chance to drive the robot in real competition conditions....and we had a blast traveling with 270...as always.

From listening to everyone on the bus ride home (we got lost so there was much time to talk) the team really really liked going to a off season, it was the Team's second year at PARC but it was the first time for many of our students...thanks for giving them such a great competition...we cant wait until next year

PARC was my first FIRST competition of 2008! I think I missed a few competitions! PARC was also my first time volunteering as referee thanks to Cliff for telling me a week before that is what my job was.:ahh: Usually I just fill in all the gaps.

I hope everyone had fun, I did! Congrats to the winners and thanks for some great final matches!:D
