What has your experience been like with the IR?

Are you using standard remotes? If so, do you find you're getting good range and able to get around obstacles between the IR transmitter and the IR board? Are you using high-power IR transmitters? Please share what you are using!

We are just using a simple universal remote that we got for somewhere about $5-10$, we haven't been to competition yet but testing it out before shipping it was working perfectly
