Does anyone know what the record for amount of laps is? we were able to pull 10 and 12 (with one herded ball in each) in the 2 minutes out of our two practice matches.

How many laps have other people gotten?

We got 8 in 1 match including 2 herds.

Without traffic we can do 12-14 in second gear and 17+ in third gear but in a match with all the traffic, stress and pressure those numbers are much lower.

Remember that practice matches are longer than the regular matches, I don't know how much longer, but I think they are at least a min longer.

The first leg of the practice match is 5 minutes (15 sec hybrid, 4:45 teleop), and the second leg is the same as a regular match.

alright so today we got 9 laps first match, 10 laps second match then 11 laps third match

we are ranked 5th (tied for 2nd with 4 other robots and we have the lowest alphabetical name). we are doin much better then we expected

really? i was told it was by our name...oh well its still seeded lol so were happyFrom Manual 9.3.10: Teams will be broken into tiers based on their qualifying score. A tier is made up of all teams with the same qualifying score. Tiers will be seeded in decreasing order by qualifying score.
 Within each tier, teams will be seeded in decreasing order by their ranking score.
 If any teams within a tier have the same ranking score, they will then be seeded in decreasing order by their highest match score.
 If any teams within a tier have the same ranking score and the same highest match score, then the scoring system will seed those teams based on a random electronic coin toss.

Greg,

I think that someone told us that the record was 14. I am not exactly sure, but that is what I was told.

We haven't gone for only laps, as we try to play some legal defence in every match, but our driver is amazing, so we have consistently gotten 3 lines in hybrid, with 8 laps in tele. That puts up a good 28 points in a match. When hybrid fails, or we get a penalty, our point yeild drops to 10 to 15, but that has only happened once.

15-03-2008, 20:54
We are purely a speed robot, so we get as many laps as possible. We held the record for most laps at the Wisconsin Regional, and Greg was just wondering what the record overall was. I was told it was 14. sounds crazy, huh?

As an opponent of team 27 in the elimination rounds at Detroit today, I can tell you that I wouldn't be at all surprised if they held the record. :p

15-03-2008, 21:42
Any idea of what it was? :P There isn't much information about anything that has happened at the regionals on the web. I am hoping that the WI regional videos will be posted soon.

I think I will stick with 14 for the record. If it is any higher I will be in awe. :)

Team 1158 was able to turn 10 laps at the San Diego Regional.

jdh
16-03-2008, 12:45
Our record is 11...but I don't think we hold that record. I know there are a few faster robots than our robot is. We can go 12 ft/s, so I think that somewhere out there someone could potentially make more laps.

maybe 148 at st. louis had that many or more... i know they fly around the track.

ks_mumupsi
16-03-2008, 19:15
team 2016 did 5 lines in autonomous and 11 laps in one of our qualifying matches.

I think 11 is about the highest I have heard or seen. I think anything above 12 would be nuts... especially with 6 robots and 4 balls on the field. We had 12 the one time but the robot is counted on photo finish so the last lap didnt count.

im pretty sure we got 7 hurdles durring a practice match

GBilletdeaux930
16-03-2008, 21:21
well if were counting hybrid mode in there... that would put us at 14 or 15... i dont remember which match we made the full lap in hybrid mode but im pretty sure we made 11 laps in that match w/o hybrid

We aren't designed to be a lap bot but at VCU when our lift was broken we made some laps -- our record was a full lap in hybrid and 8 laps in tele. Top speed theoretically is 16fps, though we had some wiring & chain tensioning issues which leads me to believe we weren't ever pushing full power to the drive wheels. It all should be fixed in Philly with some FIXIT's so we'll see what we can do then.

So its soundin like the fast lap bots are goin round 11-12 times during teleoperated only?

I wouldnt doubt that 148 got more then that... they had an excellent robot

I would go far as to say that you guys (930) are one of the top lap bots in the nation this year. Great drivers.

Shame that our only match with you, your PWM cable fell out.

We scouted your top match as 4 lines in hybrid and 11 laps. The laps counted include hybrid.

I'm not sayin we were either. I know there are faster bots out there that just don't use there speed for laps (141 comes to mind right away 20ft/s i think) and 148 (as i said earlier) is probably the best I've seen. Though i haven't watched many regionals so my opinion isn't that strong

Yea that match was not cool at all... we hotglued those suckers in right after that match... we were really dissapointed when that happened. One of our mentors had inspected you and 166 and had said that that match was going to be an amazing one. So yea, honestly i had been waiting for that match all day and yea...

And i know our 3rd match we got 4 laps in hybrid and 11 laps in teleoperated. That was our best match statisticly. My personal favorite match was ummm qualification 63. First one on friday. Apparently I was tired enough to (with a lack of a better phrase) zone out while driving. Which helps because I've found that if you concentrate too hard on trying to figure which way to turn depending on which way your facing that your reaction time is like *bleh*

I'm sure by the end of the season will see, more frequently, 14 laps a match in tele maybe higher.

oh... well thanks lol

i cant wait till TBA puts up the videos because as a driver, ironicly, i didnt get to really watch the matchs except for what was infront of me. and i really want to watch ummm match 63 because my whole team says that was the most impresive match so yea.

were hopin to go to IRI this year so were plannin on puttin some new sprockets on to speed us up a bit more

jdh
19-03-2008, 22:03
Loren said we could up it to about 25 ft/s if we wanted to, but it would become uncontrollable. :P We are theoretically planning on 14 ft/s with the new sprockets.

Thanks for all of your comments, Andy. ;) That makes us first-timers prouder than you could imagine (well, maybe you can imagine).

From SVR, I think I have reason to say that 190 can make one lap in less than three seconds.

Of course, I only witnessed one match where they got more than one lap, but I'm a Pit Crew/pit scout/scout-when-I-can person, so that may not be accurate. As for actual robot-around-the-track laps, I'm sorry to say my memory is a total useless fuzz. I do remember that our robot's record is more like six or so. We hurdle. Mostly. :)

Just watched our video of this match. We got 4 lines in hybrid then 11 1/2 laps in teleoperated. Our third match on friday.

Coach Norm
20-03-2008, 21:52
Team 2468 got three lines in hybrid today and then 10 full laps in teleoperated at Lone Star. We can handle the ball but we had a microswitch go out right before the match so we just went for laps. We also pushed the ball across the line once as we passed our homestretch.

We top out at a little over 15 fps.

Just take out the gearbox and stick your wheel on the end of your CIM... That should do the trick...

we have our drive wheels on a direct drive with 2 cims per side, gets us about 18 fps

Dominicano0519
30-03-2008, 19:28
well in wk 1 in nj 381 could only pull off 2 lines and 8-9 lines in tele

but

in philly my old team pulled off a full lap almost every match ( we had 14) and
there were a couple of times (like 3) were they had 5 lines, and on top of that the driver somehow got better with three weeks of not driving in between to get 10-11 almost every match . not to mention this robot only goes 12 ft/s.

and someone posted earlier about it not being controllable at 25 ft/s with the bumps in the middle, i beg to differ, our suspension system worked wonders for us and we were in the center lanes the whole match

At the off-season tournament, Beantown Blitz, this last weekend in Boston 1519's Speed Racer scored 7 lines in hybrid and 13 laps in teleop, for a total of 14.75 laps and 54 points. This round was preceded by a match boasting 8 lines in auto and 10 laps in teleop and followed by a 7 line, 11 lap match. I believe this is particularly impressive given that this is Speed Racer's first time competing. I believe video of Speed Racer will be coming, but for now a student's word will have to suffice.

PS: As Nathan mentions, this was the first tournament in which Speed Racer competed -- during the regular season, only two practice matches were driven at the Granite State Regional. So far this offseason, Speed Racer has only been a "substitute" robot at WPI's Battlecry -- Beantown Blitz, however, was the first tournament in which Speed Racer actually competed, as "Team 9151".
