Wow, sub 2-second laps are just impressive.
After 81 laps in a match, how come we ended up 44th seed?
And that's no coincidence that we scored our team number!

WOW!!:ahh: Who else played in that match??

We only did 72 laps because we couldn't find a metric crescent wrench to upgrade and fine-tune our flux capacitor.
We only did 81 because of our wait switch. We didn't hit 88 MPH until approximately 2 seconds later!
By the way, I think we won, no?
The fact that FIRST doesn't list a 558 point match at the CT regional during qualifying leads me to suspect that this occurred during an extended practice match.

I know the videos aren't up on TBA but the infomation for each match is and i couldn't find it. And i don't think that it is possible to get that many points in a regular match.
looks like it's from practice day. i think someone was just playing around with the scoring system and thought it would be fun to "run up" the score.

I'd like to thank team 1493 The Falcons and team 1155 the SciBorgs who helped with this incredible score of 558, our team number. FIRST called the match when it got out oh hand, excess speed. Also, can the advisers of those teams please send the check to the score keeper. He has been sending me emails all day long that say "SMOoo-KER, SMOoo-KER, SMOoo-KER, SMOoo-KER". What is with that.
Good luck to the UberBots, team 1124, from your friends team 558.

Nope the score just kept going up. Our team was in the match, I think it was match 46 on Friday. I caught the same shot just 4 points lower. It's a keeper even if it doesn't count.:)

about $20.00 / 1fps
Haha, oh yeah, only the greatest of alliances can get a score like this! The refs thought it was too amazing of a score and gave us penalties for excessive awesomeness. Otherwise we could have scored 1,493 points!

Thanks! If you guys had a 558 point match, do you think we can score 1124? What if we play together?

LOL..awesomeness:P
So what really happened? (Or was somebody playing with the scoring system?)

I'd believe an odd score, but only if it was at SVR. (We had 9-10=0 points for our alliance displayed on the big screen after qualification match number 3 until I got to stand in the contesting box and point out our score was odd. At least that made it easy to get fixed.)
And that's quite the picture. Even blue's score would be quite impressive for an extended practice match based on what I was seeing Thursday if it was the result of someone playing with the scoring system afterwards. Whatever the circumstances, must have been fun... but next time aim for our team number instead! Could it even display 4 digits? :ahh:

if we get 1,000 awesome points it might be possible.
What really happened was someone was trying to reset the scoring system or something, incorrectly obviously. This was an extended thursday practice match and the real score was something like 38-32.
if we get 1,000 awesome points it might be possible.
You guys have way more awesome points than that already. O:

That would be amazing to see. I challenge everyone to try to score 558 points... even if it's not physically possible.

I take that challenge. "558 points" are now defined as points earned by doing anything related to Yale, New Haven, or the Elm City RoboSquad.
Prime examples of ways to earn "558 points":
Catching a Metro-North train headed to New Haven
Applying to Yale University
Smoking with anyone named Ernest (congrats!)
Naming your first born child Elihu
Eating white clam pizza

I applied to Yale (haven't heard back yet, though)... do I get "558 points"?
I haven't done any of the others, though.

Smurfgirl,
If you decide to attend Yale, I certainly hope you would consider taking the short jaunt down the street to help mentor the Robo Squad. We'd give you as many "558 points" as you want!!! :D

If I get "558 points", then I'm in!
If we're being serious, though, I'm definitely looking to help mentor any robotics teams in whatever area I end up at college. I started a community program on my team two years ago, and that program holds all my favorite memories from being on the robotics team. The looks on the kids faces when they see our robot, and when they hear the stories we tell, makes it more than worth our time. Seeing their excitement and their eyes light up as we inspire them is one of the best feelings ever. Being a good role model is a lot of fun!
What day of competition was this? :ahh:
Smurfgirl,
I am TOTALLY serious. I have seen your devotion to FIRST and your team through this board, and we would love to have you as a mentor with the Robo Squad should you attend Yale. I am now going to pray everynight that Yale is your chosen school!! We have a need for committed mentors, and I think you would really enjoy working with our students. Just get ready to spray your hair yellow and purple!!!
In all seriousness, if you do decide to go to Yale please let me know. We would be honored to have you as a mentor.

Yellow and purple? But I'm so used to blue and red! (-;
I'll definitely keep in contact with you guys. We'll see what happens when the rest of my decisions come in.

It's not that bad, you should see the robot cart with the purple lights under it. The numbers look good also and just ask Denise about the purple and yellow hair paint!:D
Think of it this way, Smurfgirl: blue and red, when combined, make purple!!:yikes:
