View Full Version : Highest Autonomous score by a single team

I have searched and thus far have not found a thread on this yet.
I am curious, what is the highest autonomous score a single team has achieved so far?
The highest I am aware of is 28. Achieved at the Davis regional by team 2073 in the first match of quarter finals. (Yes, I know, it's my team.) I know other teams must have done better.
Let's hear about it.
I'll start. Three lines, two balls. The first ball was intentional, the second was purely good fortune.
I know you can do better, so let's hear it.:)
1114 in many matches at waterloo
2 balls, 16
6-7 lines 24-28
totall 40-44 points

1114 did 5 lines 2 balls fairly consistantly in Waterloo.

At Waterloo, 1114 never got 6 lines and 2 balls. their best was 5 lines and 2 balls and they were ridiculously consistent. 36 points by a single team in hybrid ... that is just sick!

We can do four lines consistently (sorry about plowing you guys into the wall in the qualification match #1 paul), and we just recently added the ability too take care of the balls to, but we're not in 1114's league. Their auton coupled with their speed is incredible.
at the Buckeye regional team 1024 got both balls off but im not sure how many lines they got
Team 25 got 5 lines and 2 balls (http://youtube.com/watch?v=Mh4gHV4toEc) at the New Jersey regional.
yep, 1114 and their 5lines/2balls is the best i've seen.
as for my own team, we're starting to get consistent at 3lines/1ball

anyone ever dared to hurdle during hybrid?
1114 could have, if their robocoach allowed for it... Their automode at Waterloo in one match managed to catch the ball in their forks.
EDIT: and i wouldn't at all be surprised if they modify it so they can

We have thought about it.. we are one of the few teams that have the capability of catching the ball as we knock it off in autonomous. We have only been to 1 regional so far, NJ, where we had to work out a lot of bugs. Our autonomous is working well now for the Bayou regional this weekend, but maybe that will be something to work towards for nationals...

Wow, that was one of the only matches I didn't see.
My team almost made one line...once.
actually, we did make one line before when another robot on our alliance pushed us over it.
1114 gets 36 points consistently, getting 5 lines and 2 balls... its stupidly impressive.

So far it looks like 1114 and 25 have set the bar the highest. My hat is off to them!!
I guess 2 balls and three lines is fairly good, but we still have room to improve.
Please keep the info coming, this is good stuff!!:)
Wow, that was one of the only matches I didn't see.
I was just floored when they pulled that off. No one it seemed was even going for the ball during hybrid for most of the regional, then 2073 pulls it off in the QF and not just one but TWO!! Very exciting - congrats to your team Bill.

Thanks Doug!!!
Here is the crazy thing. I never saw it happen either. I was in Hawaii on vacation with my family. I got text messages every hour or so. They were having difficulty getting Hybrid to work at all on Thurs. Finally they decided to scrap the original process and re-code. They began with just getting it to drive straight. When they got that dialed in, they added a U-turn. Now getting 8 points every time, they added the third leg, now 12 points each time.
Once they had that working, they realized that the ball was placed in their starting lane 33% of the time. So, they decided to us the IR to tell the bot to raise the lift if the ball was in their lane. Bingo, 20 points. When I got that message I was ecstatic.
When I heard they had been chosen in the first round for alliance #8, my season was complete:) :) :) . (You see, they are a second year team. Last year they came in second to last after qualifying).
The next message I got knocked me out of my Hammock. 28 points in their first QF match. Is that a success story or what???
Honestly, it was a bit of a fluke. The ball on the opposing alliance overpass just happened to be in the same lane as it was in the home lane. They had calibrated the U-turn to be exactly three lanes wide, that way they would never hit a wall no matter what lane they were in to start.
We're not even in the same league with 1114 or 25, but what a great step forward in one year!! I hope we can continue to build on this success!!

To Team 1114,
As the team (1902) that got the most votes last year as the best autonomous mode, my hat is off to you.
I watched the videos and you were great. We set the goals to do what you have done and have not achieved it yet.
Love to exchange notes on how it was done.
You should be proud of a job well done.

when we get to palmetto... we have to tweek just one thing... then we will have a hybrid almost identical to 1114. we were close at peachtree but just couldn't get it done at the end...

I remember 343 the 1st year of auto mode 2003) with your wings that spread and took down almost all the boxes. I was with a rookie team that year (1083) and we were awed by what you did.
Our only glory at peach tree that year was to get to the boxes before you did and stop your auto mode, but other than that you guys dominated.
Love to see what you can do this year.
No small feat hitting two balls and crossing 4-6 lines.

At the Minnesota Regional... I know our team had crossed 3 lines a couple of times, but consistently 2 lines. I do know that 93 had crossed 5 lines or they almost something like that. 2177 also had a very good hybrid and crossed 4 lines a good amount and I think they also crossed 5 lines a couple of times.
Has anyone hurdled during autonomous?

well my old team could only do laps but in jersey we could consistently do two lines
and we worked out the kinks and in philly they managed to pull of 5 in the end
the thing that i love the most is that it can do 3 lines every time, a lap almost every time, and five lines quite a few times
so for a pure racing robot its not too shaby
and its not hybrid its purely autonomous

326 got 2 balls and 5 lines
Well yes we did.. the coo lthing about that it was the last match in the finals.. We got the 5 lines and 2 balls and 67 got 5 lines also.. and 503 getting one line we had a 60-24 advantage going into teleoperated mode.
We were getting atleast 4 lines every match in qualifiying and in finals we got 5 lines i think 4 times out of 8 matches.. The ball thing was just luck. we missed the first ball and got it on the second go around, which was awesome and i heard our alliance teams outside the fields start screm and yelling when they tailled up the scores after words.. im not sure if there was been a bigger hyrid mode by one alliance though..but i could be wrong.. Has any alliance beat 60 points (If there are 1114 must be in it).

Qualification 53 at the Greater Toronto Regional:

The hybrid score shows that 1114, 2200 and 1006 achieved 64 points.
This was also the highest scoring match so far with 168 points.
It looks like a scoring error because 1114 got 4 lines and 2 balls knocked off and 2200 got 2 lines which means they should have had 40 points.
Please correct me if i'm wrong.

our autonomous always got 2 balls and 4-5 lines on our practice field...
but once again we made the mistake of tuning to a practice robot on a practice field. consequently, nothing worked at the CT regional, and so our best was 1 ball and 5 lines (most of the time it misjudged the distance from the wall and made a U turn, going backwards across 2 lines)
we've been using our fix-it windows diligently to make our auto mode a force to reckon with at the championships... so hopefully it will do a bit more than -20 points per auto (=

Saw 2 balls and 5 lines and 6 lines with 1 ball by 1114 at Waterloo. They said in practice (at their facility) they had done 2 balls and 7 lines. Their dead reckoning to get that second ball is pretty good.

Yes, it def. looks like 40, there have been many scoring errors this year.
But that is what happens when you make the refs so high in terms of scoring.
Lots of them find themselves watching the match and not the scoring duty.
On the subject however, Final match GLR, 67,503,910 got 60 points.

Was 2 balls and 5 lines by 25 autonomous or steering via IR?
