I am the main CAD and design kid on my team, and this is my first year. After seeing many awesome bots I have a idea:
As far as I can tell, every year you need to drive somewhere, pick up something, lift it, and place it somewhere else.
I have seen some very awesome Ideas for drive trains and lift arms, and I would like to start a CAD swapping thread where people can go to post their designs, look at other designs, and discuss the merits of each one.
Last thing: Lets try to keep everything in .step files so that everyone can participate.
I would like to start with a few Categories:
Drivetrain/Frame
Lift Mechanism/Arm.
Wheels
I will start it off with our 2008 Robot, Tatorbot2 (http://rapidshare.com/files/103673612/TatorBot2.STEP.html):
The base design for the Tator Lift (http://rapidshare.com/files/103670620/Tator_Lift.STEP.html).
The base design for the Tator Drive (http://rapidshare.com/files/103671142/Tator_Drive.STEP.html).
