This is my first try... wish me luck!

"OK, so that's our height limit. I can't quite tell whether the robot's under or not, so drive it a little closer... a little closer... just a little closer..."

...

"oh dear..."

The forehead protectors weren't enough when 195's robot decided to yank the string attached to the ball. He should have had a hard hat and weight training.

They just don't teach kids proper "duck and cover" technique any more. At least this student has cardboard to protect himself from nuclear fallout.

You gotta remember the 50's or 60's to get this. But Eric beat me to my original idea, so this is the best I could do.

A team member protecting his head (in more ways than one) from the debris caused by the Trackball going through the roof....

Mentor looks up as he is about to introduce some unexpected VIPs to the shop and sighs:
Ok guys, in our white paper, How To Keep Your Mentor Calm, we had some specifics regarding:
- not breaking the plane
- not creating magic smoke needlessly
- not launching the trackball into the ceiling and getting stuck
- not thinking this is funny

Turns to the VIPs, smiles, and says, 'Welcome to FIRST', at which point they laugh and ask - 'so what do you guys do for fun around here?' ;)

Here we see a new game being developed. It's called Trackball Paddleball. The participant, using a plywood paddle, tries to keep the Trackball in play by repeatably hitting it upwards. Unfortunatley he can only hit the trackball once as it tends to beat down anyone foolish enough to hit it twice :ahh:

Team 195 demonstrates that a sheet of corrugated cardboard is no substitute for safety glasses -- but might fill in for a hardhat in a pinch.

In the pursuit of knowledge, demonstration is invaluable. Here we see a demonstration of 'lift' as a student participant attempts a takeoff using an improvised wing. Unfortunately as everyone knows, Victor fans (even a lot of them) just do not produce enough updraft to get a student off the ground. Even ROTO (robot assisted take off) will not get this hapless student to fly.

Here is a demonstration of the ancient FIRST rain...er...trackball dance.
Note the use of forhead protectors. Without them the dance could go completely wrong and cause ringers to fall from the sky.

"By having him stand as still as a statue, 195 tried to get the kid to qualify as a Non Functional Decoration. The ruling from FIRST is impending."

"O' wise and merciful Cardboard Gods! How I have shamed you! For I did not know that I was knocking down the residence of the great and mighty Cardboard King, who lives under the I-90 overpass downtown! I am not worthy to corrugate the pulp that you're made of! I am but a worthless piece of crumpled up wide rule paper! Please accept this offering as a symbol of my great subservience to your divine will, and smite me not with papercuts!

1. The driver may be no taller than this to play Overdrive.
2. Dude, I think the height restriction only applies to the robot.
1. Nope, it's in the rule book, I swear.
2. OK, so it is in the book. Things written in the margin don't count.
1. But I really want to driiiiivvve!!!
