reference answer to this question (http://forums.usfirst.org/showthread.php?t=9306)I posted in the FIRST Q&A

Seems pretty ridiculous that FIRST would include something in the kit of parts that is not available as a spare anywhere.

Yes. However, it is probably one of the least used motors in the kit and one of the easier parts to trade between teams as a result.

As far as I know, van door motors tend to be pretty reliable as well.

It would be nice to have spares available for purchase nonetheless.

Really? I'd guess that it's the second-most popular, after the CIMs. If you've got an arm, you've probably got a Taigene in there somewhere.

In another thread I posted up the 16,xxx,xxx Delphi part number listed on the motor. Sorry I don't have it with me right now. If you can not find another team to trade with, go to a GM dealer and ask for the part by this number. If he does not have it or can not get it, he can tell which vehicles it was used in. Then it's just a trip to the junk yard to get it. GM may have replaced it with a different motor and that is why they offered it to FIRST. In that case, old dealer stock or a junk yard is your only hope.

There is a reason it wasn't included in the kit last year.

No, but Swampthing does. I ran the spare parts table at UCF and I put in a suggestion in writing to the tech crew that we needed to have them at the competitions. I'll pass your note on to Dan.
