I was just watching CSI, and I saw a commercial for a news piece on Team 1114 and FIRST that is going to air this evening on CTV National News at 11:00 pm. The CTV news crew was at our high school this morning to do some interviews. For all those around Canada and the US states which pickup CTV, make sure you tune in. Considering they're airing ads for it during prime time network coverage, it seems like it will be a major story.

For those who don't know, CTV is one of Canada's largest broadcast networks, comparable to ABC/CBS/NBC.

I unfortunately can't watch (darn living in Jersey), but I called my grandparents about it and asked that they tape it for me (although I'm sure someone will record it and put it on youtube before I see their tape...)

There's a decent number of stories on google news to peruse. The three I read were all actually fairly accurate.

This is exciting news!
Now if CTV wanted to have some extra fun with the story they would begin showing it at 11:14.

wow, yes, that would be really funny, anyone willing to record this? or can CTV open this up on their broadband video player to broadcast to the US internet connections, i know Discovery Canada and CTV are under the same umbrella media broadcasting company in Canada, so im quite certain it can be done

EDIT: Never mind, once the video goes online on the CTV News Broadband channel, im sure myself or someone else will post it, it is available for everyone's veiwing.

Not exactly the best piece I've seen, but the level of exposure makes up for it.

Congrats on getting the public recognition.

While I agree that its not about the momentary prize, I'm not sure if I agree that "its about being the best".

Correct me if I am wrong, but they didn't actually show your FRC robot once... With all the other robots shown it could really confuse the viewer (especially since they kept showing you operating your FTC bot). Not the best I have ever seen, but still publicity.

Next up "Canada AM" on CTV Tuesday morning. The show runs from 7 to 9 am, but I'm not sure when the new piece will air. It's going to be a live in-studio interview with members of the team.

Hopefully in the next piece, there will be some footage of your FRC bot...

There was an equally big Canadian story in Atlanta. He would be too modest to admit it, but Mark Breadner's Woodie Flowers award was just as well deserved -- perhaps more so, if possible -- as Simbotics extremely well-deserved championship.

That's not to take anything away from 1114 who have had dominant robots for the last three or four years, but every Canadian team owes a lot to Mark, and those who worked with him, for bringing FRC to Canada.

And those little FTC machines did pretty well, too!

If you're using Windows Live Messenger in Canada (Canada's most popular messaging client) you may have been greeted this morning with a link to this news story (http://news.sympatico.msn.cbc.ca/St+Catharines+high+school+team+wins+world+robotics +competition/ScienceandTech/ContentPosting.aspx?isfa=1&newsitemid=tech-robotics-stcatherines&feedname=CBC-TECH-SCIENCE&show=False&number=0&showbyline=True&subtitle=&detect=&abc=abc&date=False). Considering that nearly 4 millions Canadian's use Windows Live on a daily basis, we're talking about unheard level of exposure in Canada.

It's great to see that FIRST is getting on the news.

The ThunderChickens were also featured on a local channel here in Detroit (Channel 4, NBC).

I like how in the video you never see 1114 FRC bot in both of the videos, but you see 45 in almost every shot

Unfortunately, none that I'm aware of. Here's the story (http://www.clickondetroit.com/education/15940754/detail.html) on their site.
