...and so can your name!!!

NASA (http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/LRO/main/index.html) will be sending names up to the moon and you can be apart of that by submitting your name. There is a Gizmodo (http://gizmodo.com/386907/nasa-to-fly-you-to-the-moon-for-free-sinatra-style) article on it too! Apparently they are going to take the database and put it on a microchip and integrate it on the spacecraft. I don't know if they will follow through with this, but I have a cool certificate [soon to be hanging on my wall] and that's all that matters!

What a cool way to get people to be interactive with the space program.

Barry Bonzack is going to the moon. It is also on it way to Pluto with New Horizons, and has been blown up in space on Deep Impact.

I'll have to look a bit more into the The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter and find out if it will be lifting off from the Kennedy Space Center. Since it most likely will, I'll try to snap pictures of everyone's name going to the moon.

No problem! ... I'm pretty sure its going to be a fun trip, and I hope they publish a list of the people that go, it would be kind of cool I guess. ...

...I wonder if Dave picked up his phone to call Mr. Griffin when he saw the title of this thread before clicking on it. :D

Just so you are all aware, NASA has provided similar opportunities to have your name placed somewhere on the spacecraft for almost all recent planetary exploration missions (for example, we did it here for the Mars Exploration Rovers (http://spacekids.hq.nasa.gov/2003/) in 2003, and here for the Phoenix mission (http://astroprofspage.com/archives/669) in 2007 - which will be landing on Mars in just two and a half more weeks!). We are planning to do it again for the upcoming Mars Science Laboratory (http://mars.jpl.nasa.gov/msl/) mission to be launched to Mars in 2009.
