I was digging around when I found a video from our 2001 off season Mt. Olive Mania. Looks like we did Dean's homework a while ago :p

Just curious as to what teams were there and if anyone has other pictures they want to post up. Thanks and enjoy.:)

wow does that bring back some memories, this is THE event that got me involved with first.
looked like the bread and butter of first teams in the NJ/NY area, 11, 25 (i think they were the one lifting themselves over the bar at the end of the video, their "monkey bot") 47,56,87, 102, 341, 522, 528 714
just shows the rich history or FIRST rooted deep in MO!

Stogi you're the man!!!! That's an awesome find!!!
What a great find. :)
I remember that was an awesome competition. It was only our third off-season event and we had a blast!
It was very cool seeing all those great machines again. I also liked seeing our little robot "Hephty" scooting across the ramp one more time. good times!

I'll ask McG tomorrow, but anyone know what happened to the event? btw, was this NJ's first off season comp?

No I don't believe it was.
Back in the day here this event was passed around year to year to different schools. I believe it was 11, 303, 25 and 56 that were "taking turns" hosting the event. That didn't last long though ;).
This too was my first FIRST event. I was a field reset member, good times indeed.

Brandon or Kevin:
do you guys know why we didn't continue along with running this off season if it was so successful?

i honestly don't know, i don't even remember hearing about one the year after that. MORT started going to events like PARC and Miss Daisy's event one year, and then brunswick eruption, duel on the Delaware, bash at the beach. Quite a few events were happening around us, maybe they felt there was no need.

The reason is for what I wrote above...
We were "passing" the competition around. If I am not mistaken I think brunswick eruption followed, however I may be wrong. 303 hosted theirs in 2004 and after that people kind of went on their own.
Offseasons were a commodity back in those days, only a few teams hosted one year after year...
