Now let's hope this doesn't end up with either one in the pool :p

Looks like a vaguely familiar position for two robots to be in to me. ;) Anyone happen to have a picture of when this happened in the eliminations at Great Lakes with us and 217?

I was more impressed with the background. Is that Ms. P's house?
No wonder you can send your whole team to Hawaii! :P

At last, the rumors are confirmed!

Between these two, we've got three Einstein appearances in the last four years. Imagine what happens if the desirable attributes of the Poofs' machine take hold with Pink.

(Memo to self: Do not register for Florida next year! )

Pink + Poofs = Epic

Mike D is so awesome.

And that is Mike's pool.

These are two AWESOME machines and two AWESOME teams. It was a pleasure to play against both of them at Championship this year. 254 and 233 have both been huge inspirations to me over the years.

Hey Cory,
Next time how about 148 keeps the poof robot? It would be worth lugging it to Indiana if we get a chance to poke around in it for 3 months.

Then again, the 968 machine has a more appropriate color scheme. ;)

Don't say that. I don't want 148 and 254 working in the same shop, that could become terrifying.

Edit: Or 233 and 254, or 233 and 148... or all three.... oh god.

Andy, you have a juvinile attitude towards life. :yikes:

Funny... there must be something in the air bringing out the more playful side of robots this time of year... our 2006 and 2008 robots got to shooting balls at and drag racing eachother yesterday... I have some crappy cell phone video of it if anyone is interested. :o

Not exactly. I think it started more or less with the Hawaii Regional...which they won together. Very scary driving against both these teams. I believe they had hotels near each other and basically got very close. Plus there's always those NASA connections....

Not to shift the conversation topic too much from the depicted robot makeout, but what impresses me the most is the differences between this pink gripper, and the initial version posted here: http://www.chiefdelphi.com/media/photos/30977

As you can see the older version of this gripper looks to be considerably heavier than the final product. From my initial glances, it must have taken hours and hours of during the fix-it windows to get the new gripper done. Very few teams are willing to put in those extreme hours after ship, most are more likely to stick with what they have. I love it when teams aren't willing to settle for "good enough" and continue working to make sure they're "great". It's this level of dedication and desire that separates the great teams from the good, and keeps The Pink Team at the top of the FIRST world.

Steve Kyramarios (sp?) also has very close ties to both teams, after working at both NASA Ames and NASA KSC (who sponsor 254 and 233 respectively). That may be the "NASA connection" you're referring to, but their connection runs deeper than most NASA base teams.

Sean,
From my seat, the "connection" has been a mutual admiration of fine robots between EJ, Cory, and myself over the last several years. I think after finally getting up the nerve to introduce myself to these Poof super mentors and realizing just how nice they are its all been an easy "connection" between our teams. This was another great byproduct of IRI. I just met Steve in Atlanta this year and he is just now getting to know Pink. He is a really good guy and may be helping us out this year. Lets talk at IRI.

Yeah, the 233 - 254 relationship has been building for a while, but it was definitely accelerated in Hawaii since our teams hung out 4 nights in a row together and then again in Atlanta. It was cool to kinda integrate the team members together, considering how we are usually thousands of miles apart. That's how this pink poof thing has developed. Definitely part of the magic of FIRST.

Thanks for the kind words Karthik, our motto is "It ain't done till it's done". As for time, thats the beauty of the waterjet and flanged bearings, just at an hour and the manipulator is off the jet, then 10 minutes with a few reemers and its ready to "Rock".
Thanks again,
mike d

As Ches said in that thread,
It's not a robot part. It is actually a prototype for a disciplinary device on the team (Star Jumps just aren't cutting it).

LOL:D Good one, Don. The 469 switch from Arm to Shooter is another great example of what Karthik is saying.

As for Pink and the Poofs, I still think Pink (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/showpost.php?p=742525&postcount=21) should throw a PINK power coat on at least a part of the Poofs robot :D

Back when during the 2001 season, I remember Steve K. chasing Jason Morrella and his powder blue zip ties away from the robot. How am i supposed to look my mentor in the face now that my team is wearing pink shirts. I already know some part of our bot is showing up to Indiana pink...so now we've just gotta make an educated guess and bring spares!
